This article finds under-the-radar D-Linemen that showcased impressive film and playmaking ability. These athletes are tone setters in the trenches and consistently power their way into the backfield. Here are the most overlooked DL in the 2021 NC class:
Henry Daniel Henry Daniel 6'2" | 225 lbs | DL South Granville | 2021 State NC , DL, 6’2 and 225 lbs, South Granville HS
Daniel is an intelligent defensive lineman that always follows the ball on option plays and is quick to recognize play designs. He is very good at shedding blocks because of his strong upper body and hand placement on his opponent. Henry delivers constant pressure on the QB and uses his power to knock offensive tackles to the ground. He can get into the backfield right after the snap and was one of the most impressive players I’ve watched so far. Currently committed to NC A&T.
Oluwaseun Adewumi Oluwaseun Adewumi 6'4" | 260 lbs | DL Rolesville | 2021 State NC , DL, 6’4 and 260 lbs, Rolesville HS
Adewumi is a disruptive defensive lineman that consistently affects the quarterback’s vision and accuracy on passing downs. Oluwaseun is able to create push at the line of scrimmage that allows him to be an efficient run stopper. He is very good at setting the edge and getting his hand on passes in his direction. This athlete creates turnovers and can be used to block field goals at the collegiate level. Already has committed to Army.
Reggie Spivey Reggie Spivey 6'1" | 290 lbs | DL Hunter Huss | 2021 State NC , DL, 6’1 and 290 lbs, Hunter Huss HS
Spivey is an all-effort type defensive lineman that is never giving up on a play and hustling from sideline to sideline. He has excellent tackling technique that includes wrapping up and driving through his opponent to the ground. Reggie utilizes a successful swim move to get by the OL and is powerful enough to display the bull rush. He also showcases great hand use when defeating blocks and getting hurries on the QB. Right now has been offered by 4 schools.
Kinston Reaves Kinston Reaves 6'0" | 270 lbs | DL Statesville | 2021 State NC , DL, 6’0 and 270 lbs, Statesville HS
Reaves is a nimble defensive lineman that possesses elite closing speed and quick feet. Kinstin is a strong player that drives opposing linemen backwards and beats double teams with ease. He always seems to be in the backfield because he constantly makes tackles for loss on running/passing plays. Reaves plays with a low pad level and great leverage, which allows him to almost never miss a tackle. Already has committed to Eastern Illinois.
