Gary West Side Has A Big Secret

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I pulled up to Gary West Side's Combine workout yesterday, and I'm glad I did. Yesterday, I pulled up to the Gary West Side Combine and left with a ton of excitement about the gem of QB I just come across. Throughout the evening, a lot of guys were joking and not as dialed in as they could be. Moore, was not one of them. He didn't miss a single rep. Whether it was his rep, or the other QB's, he was paying attention, calling out points, and was very precise with his details. He knew where the guys were supposed to break, throwing with anticipation, and correcting them on simple things. Whether it was running a stick route at 5-yards, telling the receiver which direction to turn for the ball, which foot to plan with, or so on, Moore was on top of it. The other thing I loved about Moore was his mentality. Some guys on the field just have that "IT" factor, and he's got it. The way he carries himself, locks in, and works with his guys. Guys just gravitated around him and there was an unspoken respect for him from his teammates that you could see. What he said mattered.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I know immediately, questions about his size are going to pop up. Well, not only his he incredibly young with a growth spurt still always possible, he understands his game and has a fantastic arm for his age. He's able to slide in the pocket, find the throwing lanes, and deliver. During the 1 on 1 session, he really impressed. He seemed to get better when a DB got on his receiver. While there was a throw or 2 that wasn't perfect, for the most part he was throwing guys open and hitting them in stride. One throw in particular stands out. I turned around right as the receiver cut on a Deep Post route. DB all over the receiver and Moore lofted a perfect ball into what was an NFL type window and the catch was made. A single play in the middle of the 1 on 1's that seemingly went unnoticed, but I certainly saw it. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Gary's offense over the past few years hasn't been a traditional drop-back offense. In part, because they didn't have the arm to sling it around. Well, now they do and they aren't wasting it. A conversation with the DC yesterday left me informed that they plan on opening the offense a bit because Moore allows them to do so. Moore is a fantastic athlete, so he's going to be a dual-threat QB and give them an extra layer they haven't had before. A great athlete throwing the ball as well as he does only leads to good things for offenses.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I left Gary pretty excited about the future of their program, the offense, and what Moore can do for them. He seems to work incredibly hard, be wired the right way, have the arm, and athleticism to blossom into a superstar. He's set to start this fall, so we don't have to wait much longer to see him be unleashed.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
