As the abbreviated 2020 season has come to a close in South Carolina, here’s a look at a few hidden 2021 gems in York County you may not have heard of and should be on recruiter's radars. We hope to roll out a few more stories like this one prior to National Signing Day on Feb. 21, 2021. Here’s what you should know about them:
K Colin Kahru, South Pointe

2020 senior season Hudl highlights
Analysis: Kahru received a preferred walk-on offer from North Greenville University on Thursday, but that may not be the only offer he receives. He has the leg to boot it out of the back of the end zone consistently and really sets things up nicely for the defense. He was solid on field goals in 2020 hitting one from 43 yards away at one point during the season. He’s an excellent student in the classroom with a 4.2 GPA.
OL Nathan Brooks, Fort Mill

2020 Senior Season Hudl highlights
Analysis: Brooks is an aggressive lineman that isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty for sure. He can move guys right to the ground with his hands and can deliver a crushing block like we saw on a screen play, which led to a touchdown. He just received an offer from Erskine College and has a 4.45 GPA and was the team captain for the Yellow Jackets.
WR/DB Ty Keaton, Nation Ford

Analysis: A two-way player, Keaton’s versatility and hands is what makes him a player to keep your eye on. He can line up in the slot or outside and make the catch one-on-one against a defensive back or burn you with his speed on vertical and post routes, threatening to take it to the house any time he catches it. He also gets it done in the classroom with a 3.65 unweighted and 4.35 weighted GPA.
QB [player_tooltip player_id="59415" first="Jackson" last="Roberson"], Rock Hill
Twitter: @JacksonRoberso2
2020 Senior Season Hudl highlights
Analysis: Roberson is listed at 6’0, 180 lbs and has definitely thrived in a pass heavy, Air Raid offense that he executed over the last few years. He can stand in against pressure and make the quick slant throws to his receivers or he can put the ball right in the bread basket in the vertical passing game. He’s a little quicker than you realize on the run and can catch a defense by surprise with the read option game.
PR/WR/SS [player_tooltip player_id="59437" first="Isaiah" last="Burris"], York

Analysis: Burris is all over the place as he played in all three phases during the abbreviated 2020 campaign and he made his presence felt. He’s a solid strong safety who has good instincts and can make a play on the ball quickly. Or, if you need him on punt return, he can get it done there as well. He’s patient in waiting on his blockers before he takes off. He’s also a solid student in the classroom with a 3.1 GPA.
DL Kyle Springs McCottry, Northwestern

Analysis: McCottry was a force to be reckoned with on what was a strong unit for the Trojans’ defense in 2020. He has a motor that’s running constantly. He played at defensive end and can hunt quarterbacks down like on a read option play where he slow played it well to confuse the quarterback on the read and he’s really strong against quarterbacks who can scramble around.
CB/FS Rhyan Cheatham, Clover

2020 Hudl highlight clip
Analysis: In watching Cheatham’s film, within the first couple of plays, it’s clear that he is a ball hawk. He can cover receivers one-on-one and win those battles whether quarterbacks try to throw it short or long and if he doesn’t pick it off, he can swat the ball down. He’s not afraid to come up and make tackles against the quick passing game or against swing passes. He came up and made a solid hit against the running back on one play.
He currently holds offers from Limestone College and North Greenville University. He plans to make a commitment on Monday, Dec. 14.
