Continue ReadingThe Cy-Fair Bobcats won their first round playoff match against the Westside Wolves. Fair improves to 10-1 and will move on to the next round in playoffs. The Bobcats used a ground and pound trap game coupled with a vertical passing game to beat the Wolves. The Chrest brothers, Jaxson and Nick Chrest. Were two playmakers who made big plays. Quarterback Carter Cravens Carter Cravens 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Cy-Fair | 2021 TX and Jack Witmer also led the team with senior swag in an impressive first round victory. As always LJ Johnson LJ Johnson 5'10" | 210 lbs | RB Cy-Fair | 2021 State TX showed up in his signature style power run game and definitely showed why he is on top of recruiting boards for February. The Bobcats have impressed most with their cohesive coaching staff and dynamic playmakers. We are excited to breakdown the role of some familiar Bobcats and why they bring success to this team.
The Chrest brothers Jaxson and Nick are a WR, DB tandem who always bring it. Nick impressed with an interception and Jaxson stunned the Wolves with a touchdown grab early on. These two seniors are very intriguing to the Bobcats playoff run because of their special team ability and their ability to play both sides of the ball. Nick has great depth at safety and has a knack for making plays on the ball. He is very savvy in how he pursues the ball carrier and establishes himself in coverage. Jaxson has great chemistry with quarterback Carter Cravens Carter Cravens 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Cy-Fair | 2021 TX . Jaxson has proven himself as an asset to Cravens and provides a safety blanket for big throws down the field for the team. The Chrest brothers are an example of two players who have an immediate impact game in and game out for this Bobcat squad. It is going to be very fun watching these brothers make a run in the postseason.
Carter Cravens Carter Cravens 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Cy-Fair | 2021 TX had a great regular season and using his TE Jack Witmer has proven to be very effective in getting the job done for this squad. Carter has been the backbone of the Cy-Fair team and he continues to show up and prove that he can wield this team to a state championship. I am going to pivot and say Carter Cravens Carter Cravens 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Cy-Fair | 2021 TX is more important than LJ right now because of the weight the passing game has to have in order for LJ to be successful in the run. Carter must be able to continue to throw the ball down the field even when defenses stiffen up. Cravens’ leadership is paramount in the quest for a state title they’ll need to rally behind him and make sure he keeps his playmakers involved. I’m also paying attention to the connection to Jack Witmer that was prevalent in the game. Witmer has the ability to take over a game when the running game gets stopped down the stretch. Witmer had a touchdown called back and scored one proving that he is a D1 athlete. Witmer is committed to Virginia, the Cavaliers sure do have a great one coming in!
With all of the great players in this game and moving forward, LJ Johnson LJ Johnson 5'10" | 210 lbs | RB Cy-Fair | 2021 State TX is the biggest star, the 4 star recruit is crucial to the Bobcats’ success. LJ is proving to be able to carry the load as he showed yesterday against Westside. I am very pleased with what I saw from the 4 star because of how important senior year playoffs really are. I understand LJ has a lot of pressure on him but pressure makes diamonds and LJ is shining through right now. The offensive line is too credit as well led by Alex Rodriguez. The trap and power run scheme is extremely effective for the Bobcats and proves to be their foundation. LJ bolsters the running game and runs very fluidly through defenders and somehow manages to effectively run for around 7 yards a carry. He’s in magnificent shape and playoff form true and tried.
Cy-Fair could be putting together something and we’ll have more coverage next week and deeper into the playoffs!
