The EDGE spot has long been one of my favorite positions to evaluate. Why? Because each player has their own different approach and plan of attack, despite trying to accomplish the same goal. After scanning the state, I found 4 unique pass rushers that I would offer right now. Here they are...

Bryce Izundu - 2024 - GAC

Productive prospect that looks like a natural pass rusher on tape. Has good enough speed and twitchiness at 6'1 230 to easily get around the edge and get after the QB. Izundu is a high-energy player with a high motor, showcasing some excellent effort plays on film. He is feisty and violent with his hand usage and has a good combination of inside and outside moves. As a pass rusher, he has more than one way of winning. Wouldn't consider him a run stuffer, but he has good lateral movement which keeps the play in front of him and he grinds away to free himself up. In my opinion, Izundu is a true D1-caliber talent that can exceed expectations thanks to his play style.

https://twitter.com/bryceizund/status/1649474160559628289?s=20

Muhammad Alcine - 2024 - Discovery

Big-time sleeper in the state that flashes some serious upside. I like his frame at 6'3 215 with long arms and legs. He should be able to fill out nicely and become an even more rugged defender. He showcases some excellent speed and athleticism off the edge. He has the ability to slowplay blockers and then quickly shoot by them to threaten the pocket. His long and strong arms allow him to lock out and maintain leverage on blockers. At times, he can manhandle blockers and leave them in the dust. He is disciplined in his pass rush as well. If he can't get the sack, he gets his long arms up and attempts to knock the ball away. Each rep Alcine will find a way to contribute and linger in the back of the QBs mind. He reacts well to the run game, shuffling his feet and form tackling to prevent the RB from slipping away. I really like what Alcine brings to the table and think he has tremendous upside. FBS-caliber talent.

https://twitter.com/AlcineMuhammad/status/1617907578985680896?s=20

[player_tooltip player_id='330501' first='Braylon' last='McDowell'] - 2024 - Whitewater

Impressive speed rusher that exhibits tremendous athleticism off the edge and has a nose for the football. At 6'2 200, he could slide back and play a more traditional LB spot since he has the ability to fly all around the field and get to the football in a hurry. However, he can be a true speed rusher if he sticks at EDGE and develop into a headache for QBs. McDowell is an extremely dodgy and slippery rusher. At times, he pieces his way through blockers without being touched. When faced with contact, he doesn't shy away and has a surprisingly strong punch and flashes some quick hands. McDowell can project to a few different positions. Wherever he ends up in the long term, expect him to fly to the ball and keep the action in front of him.

https://twitter.com/Braylonmcdowel1/status/1598101839345745920?s=20

[player_tooltip player_id='404095' first='AJ' last='Pigford'] - 2024 - South Gwinnett

Extremely tough and physical pass rusher that brings a unique skill set and unique traits to the table. He uses his sturdy 6'2 230 frame and explosiveness to bull-rush blockers. Pigford seeks out contact and oftentimes leaves blockers on their backside. If he does get tied up, he has enough speed to work back outside and get after the QB. He has excellent first-step explosiveness and can quickly get to the QB before he is even out of his drop. He has a nose for the football and fires out of a cannon to get to it. The ability to power-rush translates to the next level, and Pigford is more than polished in that category.

https://twitter.com/ajpigford/status/1645926056786796547?s=20
