Cooper Born - Fannin County

A productive, consistent linebacker in North Georgia who does his job every play, Born is a natural linebacker with toughness, instincts, and the ability to tackle. He's not the biggest, fastest, or flashiest linebacker you'll find, but he gets thee job done. He understands his role, knows what his job is, and gets it done. He's rarely out of position and brings some dependability to the Fannin County defense. One of the leading returning linebackers across 2A in the 2025 class, thee rising junior stands at 6-foot-1 215-pounds, giving him plenty of size that allows him to shed tackles and go get the ball-carrier. The tough sophomore made an impressive 85 tackles last season with 9 TFLs, one sack, and 13 more QB hurries. He also added one INT and forced one fumble during his impressive 2022 season. He made 7+ tackles in seven different games last season while making 10+ tackles in three games. His best game last season came against Union County where he made 12 tackles and four TFLs. As good as he was last year, look for the Fannin County defender to have an even bigger junior season in 2023.

[player_tooltip player_id='1085352' first='Jeanarion' last='Kamga'] - Westside

One of the fastest and quickest-reacting linebackers in Macon, Kamga was a force and lit up the state sheet last year as a sophomore. In just eight games, the smaller but quicker linebacker was a tackling machine, making 72 tackles and 9 TFLs, averaging 9 tackles and just over one TFL per game. Not bad at all for an undersized linebacker. He runs well, closes quickly, and knows how to make a secure tackle. He also showed he can get after the quarterback, making two sacks on the season. If he would've been able to play all season, the talented sophomore could've been the leading returning tackler across 2A for the 2025 class. He's one of the more underrated sophomore linebackers in Middle Georgia and will only get better as a junior next season. Kamga made at least nine tackles in four of his eight games last year, proving to be one of the more reliable defenders in the region last year for his class. His biggest game came against Hephizdah where he made 15 tackles and three TFLs.

Jordan Jones - Thomson

A powerful, versatile defensive lineman with a thick 6-foot-4 250-pound frame, Jones was a consistent, reliable defender who made play after play for an excellent Thomson defense in 2022. Helping lead the Bulldogs to a 2A state championship last season, Jones set the tone of the defensive line and played tough, outstanding football for a sophomore. He's put together well and can hold his own against older offensive linemen in the trenches. He's quick off the ball and knows how to blow up a play before it can get started. The productive sophomore made 63 total tackles last season along with 8 TFLs, four sacks, and six more QB hurries. He was disruptive both against the run and the pass, and he's a young defender with a chance to have a breakout junior season in 2023. IF he does, look for his recruitment to heat up down the road.
