With the playoffs being put on pause for the next few weeks, let’s take this time to take a deeper look into some of the top games to watch. East Lansing (8-0) and Mona Shores (9-0) are two of the best teams in the state and both with square off in what should be an exciting matchup. Both teams have Michigan High School Player of the Year candidates on their rosters in [player_tooltip player_id="29547" first="Andrel" last="Anthony Jr."] and [player_tooltip player_id="29824" first="Brady" last="Rose"].
East Lansing Trojans
[player_tooltip player_id="29547" first="Andrel" last="Anthony Jr."] | WR | 2021 (Michigan commit)
Anthony Jr. has been having a great senior season and will be up for Michigan High School Player of the Year honors. He is a great athlete that displays the route running, playmaking after the catch and ball skills to be an outstanding collegiate receiver. He could be an early contributor at Michigan.
[player_tooltip player_id="29561" first="Ethan" last="Boyd"] | OL | 2021 (Michigan State commit)
Boyd is one of the most intriguing prospects in the entire state. He is an elite athlete at the position and his best football is ahead of him. He decided to stay very close to home at Michigan State where he should develop into a high level starter for the Spartans.
[player_tooltip player_id="30272" first="Ethan" last="DeWitt"] | OL | 2022
This East Lansing offensive line is one of the best in the state and DeWitt is a big reason why. He has good size and shows the ability to generate movement up front with some consistency. I think he is a player that could start picking up some offers this offseason.
Ambrose Wilson | QB/ATH | 2022
Wilson has been key to the Trojans success this season and is an outstanding playmaker on both sides of the ball. I think he projects best at defensive back where he can put his length and physicality to good use. I expect he will see offers as we enter the offseason.
Mason Woods | WR | 2022
Woods has been having a breakout season this year. He is a smooth athlete with good speed and hands for the receiver position. He should become a highly sought after recruit in the 2022 cycle.
Mona Shores Sailors
[player_tooltip player_id="29824" first="Brady" last="Rose"] | ATH | 2021
Rose has been putting together one of the best senior seasons in the entire state and he will be in the running for Michigan High School Player of the Year. He is small, but he is an elite playmaker that can line up all over the field. He currently holds offers from Ferris State, Lawrence Tech, Davenport, Mount Union and Hope, but a player with his talent should have way more offers than this.
[player_tooltip player_id="29679" first="Keondre" last="Pierce"] | DB | 2021
Pierce is one of the better defensive back prospects in the state. He has the speed and reactive athleticism to stay in phase with receivers and he displays the ball skills to consistently break up passes. He holds offers from Lake Erie, Alma and Siena Heights, but should have many more than that.
Mark Konecny | QB | 2022
Konecny is one of the more underrated quarterbacks in the 2022 class. He has a solid arm with good accuracy, but he also offers playmaking ability as a runner as well. I think his recruitment will take off during his senior season, if not earlier.
[player_tooltip player_id="30079" first="Karsen" last="Marihugh"] | DL | 2021
Marihugh is an underrated player that currently holds no offers. He is short, but a well put together player that shows the ability to defend the run. He plays as a stand-up edge rusher in the Sailor defense, but I think he could transition to off-ball linebacker or to defensive end in an even front.
[player_tooltip player_id="30006" first="Khyree" last="Hamel"] | DB | 2021
For such a successful team, they seemed to be filled with underrated players and Hamel is no exception. He is a big hitter that can change directions quickly and could stick at safety or transition to linebacker at the next level. He holds offers from Graceland and Hope, but I expect him to see more offers soon.
