Recruiting News and Notes 4-1-23

However, first the state of Arkansas has been hit hard by tornadoes that swept across the state. Hundreds have been hurt and many have had homes destroyed. Now on to a busy week of recruiting news across the Natural State.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='319438' first='Kamarrion' last='Ferguson']-Defensive Back-Watson Chapel-2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='319438' first='Kamarrion' last='Ferguson'] is a hard-hitting defensive back that can play either the safety or cornerback positions with equal effectiveness. He has tremendous hands and does a great job of playing the ball while it is in the air. Ferguson is a prospect that can terrorize opposing wide receivers with his speed. The Watson Chapel defensive back earned a scholarship offer from Arkansas Baptist a few days ago. I look for Ferguson to rack up some more scholarship offers over the next few months. Congratulations go out to the talented Watson Chapel defensive back!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='434090' first='Alex' last='Martin']-Defensive Line-Little Rock Parkview-2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Defensive tackle [player_tooltip player_id='434090' first='Alex' last='Martin'] has seen his recruiting explode over the past six months. The talented defensive lineman does an excellent job of disrupting the opposing offensive backfield. Martin has impressive strength and good pass rushing ability. He can shutdown both the run and the pass. Earlier in the week the Cincinnati Bearcats extended a scholarship to Martin. Martin is going to be a defensive lineman that sees playing time on Saturdays in the future.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='352887' first='Derrick' last='Murdock']-Linebacker-Little Rock Mills-2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='352887' first='Derrick' last='Murdock'] had a fantastic 2022 football season and he is looking to raise the bar even more in 2023. He does an excellent job of defeating blocks and getting into the opposing offensive backfield. The talented Little Rock Mills linebacker has had a busy couple of weeks on the recruiting trail. Murdock paid visits to both Ole Miss and Arkansas-Pine Bluff over the past few weeks. Murdock is a prospect with the potential to play on Saturdays in the future.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='451363' first='Davian' last='Hall']-Athlete-Elkins-2025</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One prospect that scouts should start paying attention to is Elkins' prospect [player_tooltip player_id='451363' first='Davian' last='Hall']. Hall works effectively on both sides of the ball. On the defensive side of the ball, Hall has the talent to lock down opposing wide receivers on pass routes. Meanwhile, on the offensive side of the ball, he does a great job of using his athletic ability to get open for his quarterback. Hall had the opportunity to a pay visit to Arkansas Tech over the weekend. He is one of my sleeper prospects on the rise! Keep an eye on him!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='746042' first='Kason' last='Jewell']-Offensive Line-Dierks-2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Dierks Outlaws had a tremendous 2022 football season. The offensive line was one of the most impressive units of the team last season. [player_tooltip player_id='746042' first='Kason' last='Jewell'] is a versatile lineman that can play all along the offensive line. He has quick feet and impressive power at the guard and tackle spots. Jewell plays with a chip on his shoulder. He works to finish every block and does a good job of getting to the second level. Jewell had the opportunity to visit Arkansas-Pine Bluff over the weekend. He is a prospect to watch this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='598943' first='Cooper' last='Anderson']-Offensive Line-Fort Smith Southside-2024</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fort Smith Southside has a talented roster returning for the 2023 football season. [player_tooltip player_id='598943' first='Cooper' last='Anderson'] does a great job at the left tackle position. He is an extremely effective pass blocker and does an impressive job of keeping his quarterback off the ground. Anderson has displayed impressive talent of clearing a path for his running back as well. Over the weekend, Anderson was able to attend junior day events at Pittsburg State. Watch out for Southside this season, the potential is there for a deep playoff run.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
