The best returning 4A player in the state of Oregon is Sam Keen Sam Keen 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Springfield | 2024 State OR out of the Marist. The reigning conference lineman of the year earned 1st team all-state honors offensively and 2nd team accolades on defense. He was the only underclassmen statewide to earn 1st/2nd team recognition on both sides of the ball. Keen is a physical presence at 6-3 290 and one of the fastest rising recruits in the state regardless of classification.
Henley HS RB/LB Logan Whitlock had an outstanding junior campaign and was one of the only other athletes to earn all-state honors on O & D. The 2nd team all-state RB helped his team go 9-2, before losing to eventual state champ Estacada in the playoffs 17-16. Whitlock put up some ridiculous numbers, rushing for over 1700 yards and 26 TDs. Give credit to his line and fellow all state junior Emiliano Ortiz.
The Cheesemakers out of Tillamook were the state’s surprise team at the 4A level, making a run all the way to the title game. QB Tanner Hoskins was clutch all year and should be in the POY conversation in 2023, with two of Oregon’s top 4A lineman returning in Austin Berry Killian and Ken Lopez. The Cheesemakers lost their first two games of the year to Marshfield and Banks before rattling off 9 wins in a row.
Separate from Hoskins, two other QB’s you will hear a lot about include 6-4 185-pound Sophomore Max Nowlin Max Nowlin 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Scappoose | 2025 State OR out of Scappoose and Mazama’s Tyson Van Gastel. Nowlin is a good-looking athlete with size, who has the potential to play at the next level. He hit on 65% of his passes, for 1861 yards, and 22 TDs/11 INTs. Nowlin helped facilitate the 28-27 upset over #1 ranked Mazama. The 6-3 210-pound quarterback Van Gastel is physically impressive as well, earning honorable mention all-state honors on both sides of the football. He might be the best overall athlete in Oregon at the 4A level.
Two kids out of Seaside to watch are RB Jake White Jake White 6'0" | 180 lbs | RB Seaside | 2025 State OR and lineman Izzy Jantes Izzy Jantes 6'1" | 240 lbs | DL Seaside | 2024 OR . White has a chance to be the top 2025 in Oregon at the 4A level, rushing for close to 150 yards per game and 20TDs on the year. The sophomore can play, along with Jantes who impresses with his overall athleticism (basketball).
Only one year removed from winning the state title, look for Marshfield to be in the mix again. RB John Lemmons will return after accounting for 991 yards and 10 TDs.
Last but not least remember the name Rasean Jones out of Baker. The 6-2 190-pound WR has a chance to be one of the state’s best for the 2026 class, earning honorable mention all-state honors as a freshman.
