Manatee Has Been In The Mix From The Start
If you have followed high school football for any length of time, here is a program that had gotten it done for so long, the reputation of this school will live on for generations.
With the growth of the area, and new schools added throughout the past 20 plus years, this was a program that lost many of the students they were getting for decades. But times change, you adjust and make the best of the situation.
New coaches over the past few years injected some of that old Manatee spirit, and many of the marquee prospects who had gone to other schools, were coming back and once again showing the talent this school has long produced.
Once again, the Hurricanes became that program that won those close games – because of the impressive talent on the roster – and while there are a number of seniors making a huge contribution this year, there are plenty of younger prospects who will steer this team into the future.
While many are proclaiming that the Hurricanes are back, head coach Yusuf Shakir will continue to build this team into something very special – once again.
HOW THEY GOT TO 6-1
In spite of last week’s upset loss to huge rival Bradenton Southeast, the Hurricanes have looked impressive this season – with wins over Plant City (32-27), Bradenton Lakewood Ranch (41-17), Palmetto (28-26), Sarasota (36-13), Bradenton Braden River (28-23) and Venice (32-27).
