Madden Miller Madden Miller 5'10" | 195 lbs | LB Marion County | 2024 State KY is another 2A linebacker that has been on my radar for a while now and continued to impress this season. Miller lines up at inside linebacker where he is very impressive against the run. He does a great job of reading his keys and getting downhill in a hurry then fighting through blocks to get to the ball carrier. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he is a very reliable tackler in the open field. Madden finished the regular season with 129 tackles and nine tackles for loss. He also proved to be reliable in pass coverage, coming away with one interception during the regular season. Miller also played a key role on offense as a running back. Madden currently holds an offer from Kenyon College and I could see more coming his way as he has the talent to play at the next level.

Madden continues to put on an absolute defensive clinic of a season for the Martin County High School defense. Playing against Knott County Central, Madden generated 17 total tackles, with 1 being for a loss. Currently listed as 3rd in the entire state in total tackles just goes to show the talent Miller has on that portion of defense. Madden specializes in positioning himself in the right spots by analyzing formations/schemes pre-snap. Using his acceleration and great lateral quickness, Miller can cover a lot more ground than most other linebacker prospects in the state. Lastly, his tackling mechanics and tackling placement are hard to compare due to his being at such a high level. Madden does a terrific job at targeting the weak spots on an opposing runner to get them down swiftly and affect their grip on the football. I expect Madden to continue to put up numbers this postseason so keep on the lookout for the 2024 linebacker.

After averaging more than 12 tackles per game and finishing his junior season as the #4 tackler in Class AA (#12 statewide), everyone anticipated even more dynamic defensive performances from Miller this year, and he clearly has elevated essential facets of his game. In his Cardinals’ 42-6 district win at Knott County Central, he displayed the ability to produce stops from a variety of pursuit angles/depths and consistently secured tackles in open space while racking up 4 solos, 13 assists and 0.5 tackles for loss. Currently averaging 14.0 tackles per game with 7 tackles for loss, 1 interception and 2 forced fumbles, he ranks 2nd among all Class AA tacklers (4th statewide) and spearheads a Martin County defense ranked in the top 10 of Class AA in both rush and pass defense. A physical presence versus interior runs who mirrors/meets both blockers and runners downhill, his inside linebacker play in the Cardinals 4-4 front is a primary reason that the unit currently is ranked #2 in Class AA and #12 statewide in scoring defense (allowing only 12.4 points per game).

Miller is an inside linebacker that does a great job of reading his keys and getting downhill in a hurry against the run. He has shown the ability to fight through blocks on his way to the ball carrier and is a very reliable tackler once he gets there. Miller has also shown some reliability in pass coverage, coming away with one interception so far this season. He has also played  a role on offense this season, running the ball 62 times for 350 yards and a touchdown. Madden currently holds an offer from Kenyon College and I expect more to come his way as he has the talent to play at the next level.

Madden is an elite tackling LB prospect that specializes in quickly pinning down ball carriers and making crucial defensive plays, even forcing an offensive turnover on the ball. Miller, a 5’10, 190lb 2024 grad from Martin County High School, had an excellent 2022 season as he recorded 152 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 interception in 12 games played (12.7 tackles per game, 4th in state 2A ball in this category). Whether being set up in a blitz situation or playing his zone, Miller is one of the premier players in 2A ball to make defensive stops. He ranked 3rd in the state for his 152 total tackles which go to show the significant impact he makes on the Martin County defense. Looking at the way he makes these plays, it all comes down to precision and a designated target for him to make the tackle. With a fast motor and leg strength, Miller can lock onto the ball carrier and get to them quickly to pin them down. One aspect I like about Madden is his ability to knock the football out of opposing runners. This is due to the tackling placement factor I mentioned previously. When making a tackle, Miller will target weak spots across the runner’s body, including his elbow area that tries to hold the ball tight when running. With a strong “punch-like” motion that is used by NFL defenders to force fumbles, Miller implemented this in his own game which has strongly helped his case for being a top-tier defender in his class. As of now, he has held some collegiate interest and continues to receive interest from other schools. I expect this not to change at all going into the 2023 season.
