QB: Dylan Wiggins, West Sioux, 6’1, 170, SO Only just a sophomore, but man can kid this sling the rock. Wiggins can throw on the run and will use his arm strength to help get his team out of trouble. To me, he’s got one of the more quick releases in all of Iowa, as the ball gets out of his hand fast. He’s thrown for 17 touchdowns to just 7 interceptions and has shown he could be one of Iowa’s best QB’s in the 2023 class. DB: [player_tooltip player_id="23876" first="Sam" last="Daniel"], Fort Dodge, 6’, 180, SR This young man is a true free-safety prospect with great range and anticipation. He knows how to read the quarterbacks eyes and will break on the ball almost effortlessly. This kid has a high football IQ & understands where the quarterback is trying to go with the football. He’s a solid open-field tackler and can make a serious impact as a return man as well. I think he’ll pick up some offers here, and I could see some FCS schools coming into the fold. ATH: Karson Sharar, Iowa Falls/Aldean, 6’3, 205, JR Already, Mr. Sharar has rushed for 1035 yards and 13 touchdowns as a running back. However, where I think he’s been most impressive is on the defensive side as a Mike linebacker. He’s been a tackle for loss machine this fall, and on film has shown great burst and acceleration. He knows when to fill a gap and will speed his feet once he’s made contact with a ball carrier. Right now, I think he’s poised to move up in our next update. OLB: [player_tooltip player_id="23851" first="Brayden" last="Evertsen"], 6’2, 195, West Marshall, SR When you turn on the film, you’ll see a relentless pass rusher who refuses to be denied. This kid is a natural hand fighter and knows how to slap away an opposing tackles punch in pass protection. He’s got a great first step and understands that he needs to get his hands up if he can’t get to the quarterback. One thing I forgot to mention, he has 16 sacks this year! ATH: Jahsiah Galvan, 6’2, 180, West Liberty, JR On offense, Galvan has been on an absolute tear as a running back. Last week, he rushed for 341 yards & 3 TD’s on 20 carries. He’s masterful with the ball in his hands and has breakaway speed to run past defenders in the secondary. On defense, he’s shown great footwork in press & the ability to play both cornerback and safety. WR: Tyler Schreier, 5’10, 160, Fort Dodge, SR Tyler does most of his work out of the slot and is a master at running the jet sweep. He’s shifty with the ball in his hands and can make you miss in space. He’s also a great return man that can turn a small gain into a really big one quick. His speed is his biggest asset, and he uses it to blaze past safeties on vertical balls. I fully expect to see this guys recruiting heat up after what he did this fall. QB: Max Juergens, 6’2, 200, Norwalk, SR This season, Max has been terrific, throwing for 20 touchdowns to 9 interceptions. On film, he’s shown great poise against the blitz & doesn’t get happy feet in the pocket. He knows when to evade once the protection has broken down and can make a defender miss once he’s decided to tuck it and run. I was very impressed with his ability to throw the corner route, as he constantly dropped it right into the hands of his target. He could be a steal for some school as he is a senior. DB: Watts McBride, 6’, 180, Washington, SO A hard-hitting safety prospect who is not afraid to come down and run the alley. McBride does a good job of closing ground and making tackles in space. He can fight off opposing blocks in the run game and make tackles behind the line of scrimmage. If he continues to develop and show he can make plays on the defensive side in the passing game, you’re looking at Division I kid. RB: [player_tooltip player_id="24007" first="Dawson" last="Forgy"], 5’11, 185, Winterset, JR Man is this guy fun to watch. Forgy has good speed and can cut to the outside and outrun most defenses. Despite not being a bigger back, he’s a tough runner, and it wasn’t uncommon to see him throw attempted tacklers to the ground. In his toolbox, he’s got great vision and consistently knows when to cut back on the defense. To me, this could be one of the most talented backs in all of Iowa. WR: Ethan Carlson, Norwalk, 6’1, 190, SR All-season long, Carlson has been QB Max Juergens go-to target. On film, he catches the ball away from his body and has no issues catching in traffic. He’s a deceptive route runner who will lull defensive backs to sleep before accelerating and running right by them. He’s made an impact at both inside and outside receiver and has shown no issues getting off a defenders jam. Keep an eye on this kid; I think his stock has gone through the roof, and colleges will soon take notice. ATH: Alex Feldmann, Columbus Catholic, 5’8, 160, SR Alex has been Mr. do it all for Columbus Catholic and has been worth the price of admission. He’s made huge plays as a running back, wide receiver, defensive back, and return man! On the defensive side, he’s been an absolute ballhawk, picking off a total of seven passes this fall. He’s got great leaping ability for a smaller defensive back and will attack the football at the highest point. He could be a steal for a smaller school.
