Underclassman Standouts: Week 5
The 2020 Michigan high school football season was back in action throughout the weekend and it was another week filled with impressive performances. Here are some of the top performers from across the state in the 2022 and 2023 classes.
Braeden Fuson | WR | Dexter
Fuson was senior quarterback Colin Parachek Colin Parachek 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Dexter | 2021 State MI ’s favorite target in Dexter’s 70-38 win over Jackson. He set a school record 215 receiving yards on five receptions and scored two times on the night. Fuson’s breakout performance should certainly get him on more college radars and he should start seeing college interest after this season.
Leeshaun Mumpfield | QB | Cass Tech
Mumpfield has been impressive this season and he continued his breakout season in a dominant 41-19 win over a very good Detroit King team. He finished the game 10-of-12 with 161 yards and three touchdowns. What Mumpfield lacks in size, he makes up for with his mobility and accuracy. I’m interested to see what college interest the sophomore gets throughout his high school career.
Boston Clegg | RB | Livonia Churchill
Clegg was a key part of Churchill’s 24-20 win over rival Livonia Stevenson. The junior ran the ball 15 times for 146 yards and a touchdown, but made big plays on both sides of the ball. He currently holds no offers, but that will change after this season as college coaches begin to focus more on the 2022 class.
