Who are they? Let’s take a look…
Khyair Spain Khyair Spain 5'9" | 195 lbs | RB Parkview | 2024 State GA – Parkview
The state’s 2nd leading rusher among all juniors last season, it’s safe to say the 5-foot-9 190-pounder was an easy breakout running back across the state in 2022. He’s a natural tackle-breaking back with some shiftiness to his game. He can make defenders miss in the open field and when he sees a hole, he knows how to burst through it. Running behind a massive, reliable offensive line, Spain does a great job of following his blocks, and when he gets into the second level, he can bee tough to bring down by just one defender. Against quality &a defenses all season long, Spain was able to rush for 2,383 yards and 16 touchdowns. He came to play every Friday night, averaging just under 200 yards a game, making him one of the most productive backs in Georgia for the 2023 season this fall. He has easy D1 talent, and after a dominant junior season, Spain could finally see his recruitment take off. He earned an offer from East Carolina this week and could see more coming his way soon.
Jonaz Walton Jonaz Walton 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Central | 2026 State GA – Central
The most productive 2026 back in Georgia last year, the sensational freshman from West Georgia ran through defenses left and right during his first freshman season last year. The 5-foot-9 190-pounder is extremely slippery who just finds a way to slide through tackles, stay on his feet, and take off for a big gain. He runs with balance, he’s agile, and has enough speed to breakaway from defenders down the field. He has natural instincts when looking for a hole and knows how to pick up yards after contact on a consistent basis. As reliable as it gets in the area, it’s hard to believe that Walton was just a freshman this past season. He ran 187 times for 1,644 yards and an incredible 20 rushing touchdowns. He ran for 100+ yards in nine games last fall and ran for 200+ yards in three games. His best game came against McIntosh where he took off for 295 yards and six touchdowns. He has a freshman season that will be hard to forget, and now he’s seeing new offers come his way. He earned a massive offer from Texas this week and it certainly won’t be his last.
Micah Welch Micah Welch 5'9" | 195 lbs | RB Baldwin | 2024 State GA – RB – Baldwin
An excellent runner at 5-foot-9 200-pounds, the Middle Georgia back from Baldwin High School just finished a strong junior season where he rushed for 1,373 yards and 16 touchdowns. He averaged around 125 yards per game and made defenses look silly on a weekly basis. He’s a stout, physical runner consistently finds a way to fight through tackles while showing some wiggle and agility as well. Arguably the best overall back in Middle Georgia and one of the state’s best in the 2024 class. He ended the season as well as any back in the state, rushing for 851 yards and 12 touchdowns during his final four games of the season. He’ll be able to play at the next level and he’s starting to see some really impressive D1 offers come his way. He earned a new offer this week from South Florida and it definitely won’t bee the last offer he receives this off-season.
Duke Watson Duke Watson 6'0" | 180 lbs | RB Mary Persons | 2024 State GA – Mary Persons
One of the most productive backs in Middle Georgia, the Forsyth native is off to a terrific career and is coming off an excellent junior season, rushing for 16,69 yards on 200 carries with 14 touchdowns. A quick, agile back, Watson is a tough 5-foot-10 175-pounder who had one of the best seasons for any junior back last year. He was tough to contain all season long, and ran wild on a weekly basis throughout the 2022 season. He rushed for over 100+ yards eight times last year and rushed for 200+ yards in four games. He can put his team on his back and run them to victory on any particular Friday night. He averaged an outstanding 8.3 yards per attempt, one of the highest averages for any back in the area. His stock continues to rise on the recruiting trail, and this week he added a new offer from Colorado.
