Today was a great day to check out some of the best talent that the MHSAA and MAIS had to offer. [player_tooltip player_id='548452' first='John' last='Peterson'], Zach Prett Jr and [player_tooltip player_id='548495' first='Darius' last='Dampeer'] had a very great game. These guys did a great job of handling business today. The Platinum squad would win 42-18. This was a fun day in Decatur, MS.

The first quarter started off with a bang. Tristan Newson connected with [player_tooltip player_id='340734' first='Jerrian' last='King'] for a 40 yard touchdown. The Gold Team was on board first. After a few short passes and runs they struck deep.

Dampeer would get the ball moving for the platinum squad. After a nice few running plays, [player_tooltip player_id='340775' first='Paxton' last='Thompson'] hit [player_tooltip player_id='549642' first='Will' last='Upton'] for a deep pass. That would lead to a hard nosed touchdown run by [player_tooltip player_id='548452' first='John' last='Peterson'].

The second quarter would start with a touchdown pass from Tristan Newson to [player_tooltip player_id='549643' first='KD' last='Gibson'].

After a big turnover [player_tooltip player_id='548452' first='John' last='Peterson'] would find the endzone again with six minutes left in the first quarter. The score was now 14-12 and that would be the score going in to the second half.

The Platinum squad would strike first after the second half. A tricky play action pass would result in a touchdown for Antrayvious Brownlee. The score was now 21-12

[player_tooltip player_id='106778' first='Jamarion' last='Scott'] would pick up a fumble and the momentum shifted back to the Gold Squad.

[player_tooltip player_id='548452' first='John' last='Peterson'] would find the endzone again on a hard nose run. He was the man out there today. The score was now 28-12.

The Gold squad got some things going in the third quarter. They dialed up a trick play of their own and found [player_tooltip player_id='108978' first='Mike' last='Williams'] in the endzone. The score was now 28-18.

This game got out of hand fast and the Platinum team saw themselves win the game 42-18. [player_tooltip player_id='548452' first='John' last='Peterson'] was the overall MVP.

[player_tooltip player_id='548452' first='John' last='Peterson'], RB, Vancleave

Peterson was lights out today. The young man had three touchdowns with over one hundred yards rushing. He impressed a lot of people that attended this game. After his performance today, I would really love to see him play JUCO ball and try to develop. I honestly think he is a guy that is a division one player. I was very impressed with his performance.

Zach Prett Jr, FS, Tupelo

Prett was playing the middle of the field like an outfielder in baseball today. He had two interceptions and a few tackles. I was very impressed with the way he played the game today. I would love to see where he goes to play college football. He showed up big for the Gold squad today. I'm sure Ty Hardin is going to miss him a lot next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='548495' first='Darius' last='Dampeer'], RB, Mendenhall

Dampeer was toting the rock very well today. He did not find the endzone, but this young man had well over 100 rushing yards. I'm sure he had some good numbers on the all-purpose side as well. There weren't any official stats, so I don't know his exact yardage. Dampeer had a very big game. He showed off great talent today.

[player_tooltip player_id='340733' first='Jaylon' last='Price'], DE/OLB, Thomas Edwards

Price is a kid that has long range and knows how to use that range. Today he was a beast coming from the edge. Price is a guy that can make it on the division one level. He just needs to get his weight up. He is a guy that I would love to have on my team. Keep up with Price.

Jackson Parker, OLB, Florence

Parker did a very good job of playing defense. It resulted in him getting an offer from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. I was very glad I got to see him play. He is a guy that hasn't been talked about enough. He is another guy I think can make it on the division one level. Just needs to hit JUCO some development.

[player_tooltip player_id='340734' first='Jerrian' last='King'], WR, Greenville St Joseph

King was on fire today. He was showing off that great speed that he has. King was getting loose on the field today. He was blowing by defenders. His team didn't get the victory, but he played with a lot of heart. It was very exciting to see him play the way he did today.

Tristan Newsome, QB, Magee

Newsome was throwing the ball very well today. He threw two touchdowns, and he picked up some yards with his feet. Newsome is a stud. I think we will see him play in the slot on the next level. He was one of the guys mentioned for the offensive player of the game today.
