Mississippi’s Top Uncommitted 2023 Defensive Prospects

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This piece entails a list of prospects from the 2023 class that have impressed, but have failed to commit or sign letters of intent up until this point. These prospects have all amassed exceptional high school careers for themselves. So much so, that each of them have several programs showing interest in their talents and what they have to offer as prospective student-athletes. Savior is your prototypical cornerback in terms of build, athleticism, grit, and ball skills. The side of his game that makes him a viable asset is his prowess as a defender, but he was also a respectable return man for the Wildcats this year on their way to securing yet another state title. He has offers from several Junior Colleges throughout the state, such as, East Mississippi, Mississippi Gulf Coast, Northwest and Jones to name a few. His talents on the field have also earned him looks form a few Division 1 programs. Austin Peay and Alcorn State have both offered Savior scholarships to further his playing career. For a while the Senior was committed to go on and play at Alcorn, but around September of last year he chose to de-commit and re-open his recruitment. Here recently Savior has visited East Central CC and Mississippi Gulf Coast. With that being said, I'm not sure which route Christavious will take, but he seems to have options on the table. The 2023 Defensive Tackle is a hard working and hungry talent that has a bright future ahead of him in this game. He has been awarded a variety of honors for his performances on the gridiron. Alex is a Defensive Player of the Year recipient, he earned 1st Team All-State honors, and was selected to participate in Mississippi's North/South Bernard Blackwell All-Star game. His productivity in that game alone shows that he has the ability and talent to be a productive defensive lineman on the next level. Alex totaled 6 tackles to go along with 2 sacks in the game, and made an impact on the game within the game in the trenches. So far, Alex Larry has been offered by a few programs on different levels, such as, Itawamba CC, Mississippi Delta CC, Edward Water, and Central Georgia Tech. He is set to commit on January 16th, so I'm excited to see what path Larry decides to take. Quintarus is a hard hitting Free Safety that plays the game fast, physical, and fearless. I see him making his money as an Outside Linebacker on the next level, but we shall see in the near future. Quintarus has received offers from almost every Junior College in the state; rightfully so after his high school career and what he has put on tape. For his efforts, McCray was awarded an opportunity to participate in the Mississippi Sports Association's 2nd Annual Senior Bowl. Recently in his recruitment, McCray has drawn interest from East Central CC and Hinds CC. Hinds had him on campus earlier this week on a visit in an effort to make a push on Quintarus before he makes his decision. The 6'3, 235 pound outside linebacker's sub 4.8 40 has turned heads for sure, but the way he moves his chiseled frame to make plays is wildly-impressive. Once Jalandyn's already polished technique is sharpened, he will be a match-up problem on the next level. Humphrey's recruitment has looked like a roller coaster ride from the outside looking in. He has received attention and offers from all of the Junior Colleges within the state. On the flip side, he also has received offers and caught the eye of Division 1 programs across the southeast region. Alcorn State, Austin Peay, and Grambling State have all offered Trey over the past year. A few Power 5 and Group of 5 programs have shown interest as well, but neither of them pulled the trigger on him just yet. Ole Miss, Missouri, Southern Mississippi, Baylor, Louisiana Lafayette, and Memphis may all be potential landing spots for this young stud. This kid has tons of potential and I'm certain he is just beginning to srape the surface of what he'll become as a football player. Tommy posted over 130 tackles, 23 TFL, and 3 sacks on his way to gaining 1st Team All-State honors. Kelly was also selected to compete in the Mississippi North/South Bernard Blackwell All Star Game, an experience that he made the most out of undoubtedly. Tommy earned Defensive MVP honors for the North from his performance. The pedigree is there, the talent is there, and most importantly the work ethic is there. TJ Kelly is a kid that I see going from a great player to an excellent player within his first two years on the collegiate level. As far as recruitment goes, he as received offers from several junior colleges within the state. East Mississippi, Co-Lin, Mississippi Gulf Coast, Hinds, Coahoma, and Southwest have all offered, just to name a few.
