Asuma looks leaps and bounds more athletic than any other player on the field throughout his tape. He’s a man amongst boys playing on the field. Bigger, faster, stronger, quicker, you name it Asuma is leaps and bounds above his counterparts. Giving him the ball in open space is a clear-cut recipe for success, and he moves incredibly well with the rock in his hands. He’s primarily a running back, but he also has an abundance of tape of him lined up wide and burning DBs deep over their heads. Ahead of his senior year, he looks like one of the most promising prospects in northern MN and I expect to see offers start to roll in for him any time.

I didn’t have to wait long watching Asuma’s highlights to find out what he is all about. The first run on his sophomore highlights shows the soon-to-be junior as a complete runner. He had to make a quick cut on one carry before getting out of the backfield. Then, he exploded through the hole, and once to the second level, he ran through a tackle attempt – barely slowing down. He cut to the outside, broke through an arm tackle, and used his speed to separate down the sidelines to complete a 65-yard touchdown run. In addition, he catches the ball out of the backfield and has good vision in the open field.
