Though they’re not the largest cities in the state, there’s a lot of talent consolidated into this cluster. As always, we’ll start with the quarterbacks.
8. Alonza Barnett, 6’ 190, Grimsley- A Page High School transfer, Barnett comes to Grimsley holding an Old Dominion offer. The dual threat throws a nice deep ball and with some more experience in reading defenses could put up great numbers as a junior.
7. Micah Salmon, 6’3 195, Northwest Guilford- Salmon has great size and put up great numbers on the ground last year. He throws a nice, catchable ball and has the opportunity to be one of the area’s best this year. If he can be a little more consistent with his accuracy, Salmon could shoot up recruiting boards.
6. Kamell Smith, 6’4 200, Eastern Guilford- A tall, strong quarterback, Smith holds a few offers from schools like Miami (OH) and Fordham. He’s slowly becoming more consistent and as he does so, more dangerous. Smith is a guy that could easily have a breakout year.
5. Kendall McKoy, 6’3 210, Western Alamance- Arm talent. That’s the first thing that jumps off the page about McKoy. He’s got a cannon for an arm and can routinely hit receivers 50-plus yards down the field. We don’t expect his offer from Akron to be the last.
