Continue ReadingJaques was the top defender on a team that made its first postseason since opening last year. The Owyhee defensive end had 51 tackles and 16.5 sacks on the season. Using a quick first step that allows him to get a step on offensive lineman Jaques was able to use great hip and knee flexibility to bend the edge. A strong punch allows him to create seperation at the point of attack. Strong enough to set the edge of the defense and a really high motor are some of the calling cards for Jaques. This is a college level talent and should see his recruitment pick up after the new year.
Davis is the definition of elite speed on the edge, with 80 tackles with 19.5 sacks which lead all of 5A. The Stanford commit uses his elite get off to create havoc on opposing backfields. With a series of counter moves Davis is able to beat offensive tackles with his pass rush. To go along with his get off you can see the effort that he plays with on film and a motor that just won’t stop. Weighing in at around 225 lbs, Davis is able to still hold his own at the point of attack with a strong arm extension that allows him to see and shed defenders. Sets the edge with tenacity and is a very sure tackler. Projects as a OLB in college that can rush the passer should have an impact in years to come.
Highlights
The Air Force commit is one of the more true interior defenders in the state of Idaho. He wrapped up his senior season with 65 tackles, eight TFLs and two sacks. Able to play anywhere from a 3 tech to a true nose tackle, Steadman can use his first step quickness to defeat blockers. Has a really good feel for stunts and slanting that allowed him to create tackles for loss all year. Has a stout base that allows him to anchor in the middle of the defense and hold double teams at the line of scrimmage. He should be a player that will help the Falcons in years to come.
