Missouri High School Football MVPs-Week 6

The season is rolling along and there are actually quite a few games being played on Saturday this week. The following players are #BellRingers from Friday night’s action who were the difference makers for their teams. As the season is heating up, so are these MVPs.
ATH [player_tooltip player_id="37250" first="Logan" last="Kopp"], Senior, Lindbergh, (6’1, 193) After watching Kopp’s performance on Friday, I almost just named him the only MVP because he deserves that much praise. In Lindbergh’s first game of the season due to the COVID restrictions, the No. 97’s ranked player in the state, played like a top 10 star. On 17 carries, the North Dakota State commit gained 196 yards and had two scores. But where he truly shined and where I project his success in college, was on defense. The hybrid LB/S registered 13 tackles, two sacks and a pick, which he almost returned for a TD. Kopp is rangy, smart and a pure athlete. His best football is in front of him. QB Cole Rickerman, Junior, Festus (6’2, 170) Anytime you throw four touchdowns in a game that seals the conference title, you can claim to be an MVP. Rickerman, without his leading running back Austin Anderson (a previous MVP), took control of the game late and carried his team to a win. The dual-sport athlete plays with poise, is heady and always seems to find the open man. With added strength in the offseason, look for tons of college coaches to be sniffing around Festus for this up and coming QB. PR/WR Chrisjen Riekeberg, Junior, Macon (5’8, 170) If you want to have some fun, go watch video of Riekeberg returning punts. The dude is FEARLESS! In a major win on Friday, the scatback zigged and zagged his way to 220 yards and a score on just five returns. Couple that night with four grabs for 85 yards and you have an MVP night. Riekeberg has legit 4.5 speed in a compact frame. As Macon, under head coach Jameson Allen (pictured), continues to improve as a squad with Chrisjen at the center, college coaches will be calling. Especially because it is HARD to find quality return men. RB Lucas Eckles, Senior, Summit Christian Academy (6’, 180) Six carries. Six carries was all the dominant senior needed to rush for 188 yards and three touchdowns in a blow out win. Eckles had missed a majority of the season but SCA was happy to have their star runner back in a fantastic way. Though Eckles is a long strider and does not appear to be moving fast because he is so smooth, no one catches him from behind. Eckles has speed, shiftiness in the hole and once to the second level, the burners to get to the end zone. Sneaky good player who will surprise people at the next level now that he is healthy and full-go. TE Rhet Liley, Senior, Jackson (6'3, 225) I love when players I don't know a lot about step up and make me take notice. I call those guys #BellRingers. I know the fans, coaches and players know all about Rhet Liley in the 'Boot'. But his performance on Friday night is not only MVP-worthy but Missouri Prep Redzone ranking worthy. Liley jumps onto and up the board for senior tight ends. he possesses grippy hands, route running savvy and blocking acumen that will help him on the next level. RB Jay Harris, Junior, Timberland (6'2, 180) Harris had an impressive showing on Friday night, rushing for 159 yards for a 9-plus average per carry. The junior also scored a touchdown in an epic win over Troy. Harris is deceptively quick, can move the pile with solid leg drive when called upon but has enough speed to gain the edge. As he continues to grow is size and strength, the Wentzville area seems destined to produce another high quality college runner.
