Continue ReadingWith the 2021 spring season closing in, we wanted to take some time to highlight some prospects in Central IL. These are impact players, and guys you want to take a look at this spring.
Junior QB: Chase Mackey (Normal Community HS)- Good height and weight, buff, proportioned with definition. An off script player, who shows the ability to play inside and outside of the pocket. Shows good arm strength and the ability to contort to make off platform throws consistently. He throws with anticipation and touch when inside the pocket. Overall, solid mechanics, possesses a quick snap release with a tight motion. Solid mobility, isn’t going to be a big play guy as a rusher, but has more than enough ability to move the chains. He shows good competitive and physical toughness and won’t shy away from contact. He has really good traits that if they continue to develop, he will be an impact QB in a Spread scheme at the next level.
Senior QB: Conor McCormick (Williamsville HS)- Solid height with good weight and sturdy frame. A dual threat quarterback, who has the ability to make plays with his feet, but his best ability comes inside the pocket. Good footwork and body control in the pocket. Showed very good ability to align feet and shoulders to each read in his progression. Very good mental processing, was able to read the whole field. Possesses the ability to get from the near side all the way to the far side with good timing and in rhythm. Good pocket presence, can slide and move to elude pressure while keeping eyes down the field. Very good release, tight, quick, and the ball comes out clean. Possesses the ability to work all areas of the field with good arm strength and accuracy. Good hip and core torque allow him to fit the ball into tight windows, while also displaying good ball placement. At 6’1, some schools may overlook him, but McCormick has all the tools to be a very productive QB at the next level.
Senior RB: Ronde Worrels (Canton HS)- Good height and weight with a sturdy frame. Solid burst and first step quickness off the snap. A straight line runner who likes to hit the hole quickly. Solid vision to read and set up blocks. Good strength at the POA, and consistently runs through arm tackles. Very good leg drive on contact, and shows the ability to finish and fall forward. Possesses good speed to break big runs once into the second and third levels of the defense. He is a hard nosed football player with four seasons of varsity experience, who is a reliable ball carrier and has the potential to be a three down back.
Senior RB: Hunter Gladson (Eureka HS)- Good height and weight with sturdy frame. A multidimensional RB, who possesses the ability to not only be effective within the run and pass games, but also in pass pro. Good burst and acceleration to hit the hole quickly. A straight line runner, who runs behind pads and will finish runs with leg drive and upper body strength. Shows solid hands in the passing game, and has good catch to run transition. He maintains his physical running style in the openfield. Good pass pro ability, willing to throw body around. He shows a good initial punch and will move feet to stick. Overall, a solid football player who can contribute in multiple areas of the game. He isn’t going to be a big play threat in the run game, but is a consistent contributor in short yardage situations.
Senior WR: Tristin Duncan Tristin Duncan 6'3" | 185 lbs | WR Effingham | 2021 IL (Effingham HS)- Good height, weight, and developed frame. Can use speed/quickness or strength to get clean release off LOS. Good speed to eat up cushion vs. Off. Very good ability to separate at the top of routes. Hands catcher, who plucks the ball and has good catch to run transition. Big YAC ability on short, intermediate, or deep routes. He possesses the ability to run a complete route tree.
Senior TE: Noah Sanders (Williamsville HS)- Good height, weight, and overall frame. Size and strength allow clean release vs. Press, while having enough speed to create separation vs. Off. Solid transition at top of routes to create separation coming out of break. Hands catcher, strong hands to possess the ball through contact. Room to grow as a route runner, has versatility at the next level as he could add weight and transition to TE.
