Head Coach Danny Landberg has created such a dominant program on the field for Erasmus Hall that they have become one of the major recruiting grounds in New York for Division One schools, especially Rutgers. The 21-0 win over Canarsie capped off a dominant season where they went undefeated in the PSAL and were highly competitive against a few nationally ranked programs early in the season. This victory over Canarsie was one of the most hyped-up games in all of New York this season so let’s take a look at who showed up when it mattered as we look at our top performers.
Zaire Andrews Zaire Andrews 5’9″ | 200 lbs | RB Erasmus Hall | 2023 State NY was the engine of this incredible Erasmus Hall offense. Andrews had a really solid game especially in the first half where he was so difficult for Canarsie to bring down. Andrews ability to turn what looked to be limited limited gains to to 4-6+ positive yards by breaking tackles wore down the Canarsie defense. Andrews scored Erasmus Hall’s second touchdown of the day and was the motor of their dominant run game that had success all game.

In Erasmus Hall’s ground and pound style of offense that features a few different athletic runners opportunities for talents like Lyrick Samuel Lyrick Samuel 6’4″ | 185 lbs | WR Erasmus Hall | 2025 State NY don’t come all the time. However, when it matter most Samuel had a really nice route on a free release where he was able to get some space between the Canarsie cornerback and safety to bring in a really nice pass from Vincent Cajano III Vincent Cajano III 6’3″ | 205 lbs | QB Erasmus Hall | 2023 State NY for the 3rd and final touchdown of the game which really put the game out of reach.

Damon Ennett III Damon Ennett III 6’1″ | 175 lbs | LB Erasmus Hall | 2023 State NY was a part of a really incredible team performance by the Erasmus Hall defense. The linebacker was really solid in coverage and was a sure tackler on Canarsie’s few short passes they completed. I really liked how Ennett III was a physical presence in the middle of the field. When passes were completed Ennett III was often there to finish plays and finish them physically.

Ryan Alexander Ryan Alexander 6’1″ | 205 lbs | LB Erasmus Hall | 2023 State NY was really effective all game for Erasmus Hall. Alexander was very physical in run support and did a really solid job of dropping into coverage. Alexander’s athleticism showed throughout the game and his speed and quickness closed passing lanes and get to ball carriers in open space quickly. Alexander really made it difficult for Canarsie to be effective using the middle of the field.
Carmello Michel Carmello Michel 6’3″ | 305 lbs | OL Erasmus Hall | 2023 State NY had some really solid reps against a talented Canarsie defensive line. Michel was powerful and did a great job moving guys into the second level. From just what I saw throughout the game Erasmus Hall had their most success running either behind Michel. Michel not only had one of the best performances in the trenches but he did it with incredible consistency.
Seth Ulett Seth Ulett 6’1″ | 285 lbs | OL Erasmus Hall | 2023 State NY was a driving factor in the success that Erasmus Hall had on the ground throughout the evening, Ulett did a really good job against a tough Canarsie defensive line that is really physical. Ulett was able to control the line of scrimmage throughout the game keeping his quarterback clean and limiting the negative plays for Erasmus Hall.

Caden Brown Caden Brown 6’4″ | 215 lbs | LB Erasmus Hall | 2024 State NY had a huge sack in the first half for Erasmus Hall and continued to pressure Canarsie throughout the entire game. Playing from behind Canarsie had to rely on throwing the ball and they struggled to get on the board because Brown and the rest of the Erasmus Hall defensive line was consistently in the backfield.

Aaris Bethea Aaris Bethea 6’2″ | 260 lbs | DL Erasmus Hall | 2024 State NY had an incredible performance against Canarsie. His quickness of the ball is next level and likely the best in New York State. Bethea was able to blowup simple dropbacks with his quickness and quick pass rush moves off the line.

Malik Person Malik Person 6’0″ | 280 lbs | DL Erasmus Hall | 2024 State NY did a fantastic job of controlling the line of scrimmage throughout the game. Person controlling the interior really opened up one on one matchups for Bethea and Brown all game. Person had a couple flash plays himself but we have to compliment the dirty work that Person did for his teammates.
