<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>MYRTLE BEACH || The 75th version of the Touchstone Energy North-South all-star game did not feature much offense from the South all-star team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The North came away with a 22-14 win in the contest and most of the quality play from the South side came on defense. The South offense mustered four net yards rushing, thanks to the North coming up with seven sacks and 11 tackles for loss which amounted to 86 negative yards.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In the passing game, the South managed 139 yards with offensive most valuable player <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='199432' first='Tanner' last='Staton']</strong> (Brookland-Cayce) accounting for 114 yards on nine-of-13 passing. Staton was picked off twice while Fort Dorchester's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='89345' first='Zolten' last='Osborne']</strong> threw one pick and completed three-of-10 pass attempts.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Staton did throw a pair of touchdown passes, one to Lower RIchland's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='202736' first='Nate' last='Branch'] </strong>of five yards and a 38-yarder to Bluffton's <strong>Jaylin Linder</strong>. Branch caught four passes for 41 yards while Linder had three catches for 39 yards.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Barnwell's <strong>Tyler Smith</strong>, who led the state in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns finished with 19 yards on five carries. Hartsville's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='202738' first='J'Shawn' last='Anderson']</strong>, a Georgia Southern commit, also had 19 rushing yards on six carries.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Defensively, the South allowed a total of 255 yards (97 rushing, 158 passing) while recording seven tackles for loss and a sack.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The top defenders included South Florence tackling machine <strong>Jaylin Davis</strong>, a linebacker, who had five solo tackles and eight assists, and Beaufort safety<strong> [player_tooltip player_id='336140' first='Colton' last='Phares']</strong>, who tallied eight solo hits and an assist. Phares (pictured) is an Appalachian State commit. He was selected as the defensive mvp for the South team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ridge View defensive back <strong>Javon Gillespie</strong> and Stratford linebacker <strong>Tory Gethers</strong> each had five total tackles. Chapin's <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='204427' first='Max' last='Drag'],</strong> also headed to Appalachian State, had four tackles, including three for loss.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Charleston Southern commit <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='132398' first='Chandler' last='Perry']</strong>, a linebacker from Dutch Fork, also had four tackles.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>North Carolina State commit <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='200739' first='Brandon' last='Cisse']</strong> of Lakewood High had the South's only interception. His pick and return set up the South's first touchdown late in the opening quarter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
