Hunter scored nine touchdowns and racked up over 500 yards of total offense as the Tigers dominated Oskaloosa, 80-32.
The senior running back carried the ball 31 times for 453 yards and seven touchdowns, adding two receptions for 50 yards with both going for scores.
Hunter’s night was one of the highlights from Week 4 on the gridiron in Iowa.
Grinnell Offense Is Scary-Good
Along with what Hunter put together, which ranks among the state’s best ever, sophomore quarterback Dallas Sauser was excellent.
Sauser completed 13 of 19 passes for 197 yards with three touchdowns. He found six different receivers, as Kyle Dillon had three grabs for 81 yards and a score.
Grinnell finished with 525 yards rushing and 197 yards passing with 11 offensive touchdowns.
Oskaloosa’s William Schultz was a bright spot for his team, catching four passes for 145 yards with two TDs.
Turkey Valley, Northwood-Kensett Combine For 110
The crew working the scoreboard for the Northwood-Kensett vs. Turkey Valley contest Friday night needed oxygen.
Combined, the programs scored 110 points with Turkey Valley earning a 60-50 victory thanks to 24 fourth-quarter points.
Kalvin Langreck threw for 111 yards, ran for 110 and had three scores with Marcus Herold rushing for 122 yards and four TDs. He also had 57 yards receiving with another score.
Defending Champ Dowling Back On Track
Seven-time Class 4A state champion West Des Moines Dowling got by Waukee, 37-34.
Talented wide receiver Louis Brooks had five receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown, with Khameron Middleton adding 66 yards on the ground and a score.
The Maroons were coming off a loss to Johnston and scored 16 points over the final 12 minutes. Waukee led early, but could not hold Dowling off.
Manske Shows Dual-Threat Abilities
Algona’s Tyler Manske Tyler Manske 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Algona | 2022 State IA helped direct the Bulldogs to the state semifinals last year.
Following a tough start to the season, Manske and Algona got into the win column with a 27-7 victory over Garner-Hayfield/Ventura.
The junior quarterback threw for 99 yards and a touchdown to Trevon Smith, but showed his athleticism on the ground by carrying the ball 26 times for 178 yards and another score.
Rams Are No. 1 In 4A
Southeast Polk made sure there would be no change at the top of the Class 4A rankings, handling West Des Moines Valley.
The Rams held the Tigers and Kansas State commit Jake Rubley Jake Rubley 6'3" | QB Highlands Ranch | 2021 State CO to just one offensive touchdowns, claiming a 34-7 victory.
It marked the first win in the series for Southeast Polk since 2013. Jaxon Dailey Jaxon Dailey 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Southeast Polk | 2022 State IA was 11 of 18 passing for 204 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Valley ran for just 24 yards against the SEP defense.
Willis, Washington To 4-0
Washington remained perfect, scoring a 41-27 victory over Mount Pleasant.
Senior quarterback Trashaun Willis threw for three touchdowns and ran for three more as the Demons jumped out early 21-0.
Willis was 13-for-19 passing for 129 yards, adding 95 yards rushing. He had a nice dual going with Mount Pleasant signal-caller Jack Johnson, who passed for 213 yards, ran for 154 and had four total TDs.
