Missouri HS Football MVPs-Week 4

Missouri HS Football MVPs-Week 4

The high school football season is rolling along, everywhere outside of St. Louis County in Missouri. College coaches continue to hit up Prep Redzone/Missouri to find out more information about not only these MVP-types, but others all around the state. Every game counts but as the weather starts to turn chilly, this is when the #BellRingers start to emerge. Let’s celebrate the following players as guys who gave their best in Week 4. RB Kyle Wuebbling, Junior, Holt (6’, 185) Anytime you get a win over the crosstown rival, that’s considered a great night. But when you go off for 227 yards on the ground and score three times, that’s whipped cream, peanuts, cherries and sprinkles on top. The junior runner has continually improved throughout his career and the coaching staff has rewarded Wuebbling’s diligence with carries. Wuebbling runs with patience and peak vision for a young player. His toughness shows up in short yardage situations. I fully expect college coaches to watch this year’s film and decide they need the well-balanced runner on their squad. RB Austin Anderson, Senior, Festus (5’9, 185) Jam 185 lbs. into a 5’9" frame and you have a bowling ball of butcher knives rolling downhill against the defense. But Anderson is more than just a brute runner. The senior is shifty in and out of the box, hits the seam with explosion and runs extremely well under his pads. Racking up 252 yards and a couple scores will force defensive coordinators and college coaches to take notice. That is why the senior is a Week 4 MVP. RB Antwon Hayden, Sophomore, Duchesne (5’10, 200) I have never shied away from being wrong or not knowing every legitimate player in Missouri. But that is why I love writing for Prep Redzone. I get to focus on players and schools I am not that familiar with. It also helps when the outstanding players rise to the top. Such is the case for Hayden. Solid as a freshman at a smaller school, Antwon increased his speed this offseason and that shows up on film in 2020. The sophomore is making coaches take notice of his skills and forcing defenders to zero in on trying to stop him. Duchesne is putting together a formidable offense with former #BellRinger QB Taron Peete but Hayden is the bell cow. The RB is a multiple Power 5 offer player very soon. QB [player_tooltip player_id="37304" first="Blake" last="Seaton"], Senior, Liberty (6’5, 215) I have said this multiple times and I will state this here again, I am not a big fan of handing out MVPs to players on the losing team. But when a guy balls out individually and plays well enough to help his squad win, I will recognize that effort. In an epic battle versus Fort Zumwalt South, Seaton accounted for 266 total yards and three touchdowns. In a run-first, run-heavy offense, Seaton uses his size and power to pick up gritty yards. But with improved mechanics, his passing ability has opened up the Liberty offense. With his size and growth potential, Seaton’s recruiting is one to watch in 2020. QB [player_tooltip player_id="37322" first="Kaden" last="Files"], Senior, Farmington (6’2, 185) Friday Night Lights is what little kids dream of and if you excel there, maybe you have a chance to play college. but first, you must be a #BellRinger and wake people up when the game is on the line. Files is that type of guy and showed true leadership, moxie and ability taking over the game under those Friday Night Lights. Putting his team on his back, Files made gigantic play after play. His three scores where critical but none more than the game winner with time running down to steal the victory. No matter where Files football career goes, the senior can always look back on Sept 18, 2020 and know he was the difference-maker and best player on the field. LB [player_tooltip player_id="37162" first="Jermaine" last="Hamilton-Jordan"], Senior, Lincoln Prep (6’1, 195) There is nothing better than watching the most dominant players in the state dominate. I am all for the underdogs, but games are won a majority of the time by the top dogs. Hamilton-Jordan fits that profile. The Arkansas commit was all over the field Friday scoring touchdowns, making highlight tackles and creating turnovers. Hamilton-Jordan is going to be fun to watch in the SEC next season so soak him in now while you can. K/P Jonah Cox, Senior, Fort Zumwalt South, (6'3, 170) Let's be real. Specialists get no love and only get noticed when they mess up. Not today my friends. Cox was a perfect 4/4 on PATs which was the difference in the win over Liberty. The senior and his powerful leg consistently pinned the Liberty offense deep, forcing the Eagles to long drives. Having a quality kicker will pay dividends as the weather turns and Cox fits that bill. Cox is one of a few Missouri kickers who deserves a dedicated look by college coaches hoping to improve their special teams.
