Six Uncommitted Small-School 2023s Worth A Scouting Trip Friday

As we inch closer to the early signing period, scores of talented seniors across the state are making their cases for offers - whether they've already got some or not.   But in the state's smallest three classes, the number of players still putting up new film has been cut down significantly. College coaches, this post is for you.   With South Carolina's Upper and Lower State Finals scheduled for Friday, we wanted to put together a package of currently uncommitted seniors in those smaller schools who you can go scout in person. We've got dudes on both sides of the ball who have displayed the type of athleticism that is made for the next level.    Here are six we'd advise you take advantage of seeing live.   Anthony Grant DL, Dillon   At 6-foot-1 and 260 pounds, Grant isn't going to be lining up at a Power Five schools. But the Wildcat defensive lineman possesses a rare quality. He's big and strong enough to play tackle but he's fast enough to split out to the edge and get into the backfield in a hurry. Grant's film isn't the greatest, but we offer you this clip of his burst.    [player_tooltip player_id='336146' first='Kacy' last='Fields'] RB, Beaufort   After playing receiver as a junior, Fields moved into the backfield this fall and has quickly developed into an ultra-dangerous ball carrier who can put up huge numbers on any given evening. Fields scored four touchdowns (three rushing, one special teams) in the Lower State semifinal win last week. And he's already rushed for 1,852 yards and 26 scores so far.    A'Monte McCray DL, Cross   McCray is the penultimate small-school big man. He plays on both lines and tends to make both look surprisingly easy. It's all because he's much quicker than you'd expect a 6-foot-4, 285-pounder to be. Don't believe us? Her's 2 minutes, 34 seconds of him spending what feels like the entirety of the second-round game against Lake View in the backfield.    [player_tooltip player_id='262618' first='Woods' last='Windham'] QB, Christ Church   Every time we turn around, we're hearing Windham's name for something or another. This time of year, it's been for what he's done in leading Christ Church to the Upper State finals against St. Joseph's. Woods is 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, throws with high efficiency and can run just enough to keep defenses offenses.     [player_tooltip player_id='146357' first='Tim' last='Castain'] DL, Oceanside Collegiate    Castain is a wrecking ball in the interior of the Landsharks' defensive line, and he's among the best players at his position statewide, despite the fact that he's playing in Class 2A. He's 6-foot-1 and 240 pounds and plays much bigger. He alone is worth the price of admission at Andrew Jackson this Friday, even if he's not the only star in that game.    Fuller Sims LB, Andrew Jackson   Sims was good as a junior. He's been stellar as a senior. His 121 tackles (115 solo) is among the state's leaderboard and he's got a pair of nifty interceptions in the last two rounds of the playoffs to prove he's not a one-trick pony. He's 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds and every bit of a hard-nosed player that would do well in any number of college defensive schemes.
