This is the first year that Louisiana will host their playoffs under the new format of select and non select classifications. The number of teams allotted bye weeks varied per division and affected what teams were on a bye. Here is a list of the Top 5 intriguing QB prospects to watch for in Round 1 of the LHSAA playoffs.
Rickie Collins Rickie Collins 6’3″ | 180 lbs | QB Woodlawn (Baton Rouge) | 2023 State LA is a dual threat quarterback who already committed to the hometown LSU Tigers to play quarterback. As a prospect Collins shows as a quarterback with a big arm that can consistently get the ball down the field to receivers on deep routes. Also, as a runner Collins has consistently shown the ability to dominate games with his legs. Collins faces an uphill battle this week facing a talented Brother Martin defense, so this should make for a good matchup.
Holstein is an Alabama commit who showcases as a prototype pocket passer. From the pocket Holstein does a good job of scanning the field and delivering accurate passes to all levels of the field. Although Holstein is a pocket passer, he does have enough athleticism to escape the pocket and extend pays with his legs. Holstein is tasked with leading his team in the first round against St. Amant which is a matchup that proves favorable for Holstein
Mooney is a Liberty University commit. Mooney is a true gun slinger that can push down the field with ease and deliver the football from all different arm angles. Mooney dos a good job of feeling pressure and manipulating the pocket while also keeping his eyes down the field. For round 1 of the playoffs Mooney has to take on Covington High in a game that should result in a shootout.

At 6’3 200 plus pounds Kameron Evans is uncommitted for the moment but has a lot of interest from power 5 and group of 5 schools. As a QB prospect Evans does a lot of likeable things. Evans shows to be an accurate thrower of the football that can consistently hit receivers in stride down the field. He also shows to be a high IQ quarterback who can quickly read defenses and deliver the football with the proper timing and footwork. As a runner Evans runs with power and will punish smaller defenders in the open field. This week Evans faces a discipline Jesuit defense, but Evans has a skillset that may be hard to contain.
Zae Teasett
Zae Teasett
Zae Teasett is a left-handed dual threat quarterback that holds multiple power five offers. Teasett is an electric player running the football with the ability to make multiple defenders miss at any moment. As a passer Teaseett has a quick release and the ball appears to have good velocity on it. Teasett is dynamic player at the quarterback position that has consistently been a difficult player to stop for defenses. This week Teasett faces off against a good East Jeff defense at home which should make for an exciting matchup
