Continue ReadingThis game will be a high-intensity match where one play could be the difference between winning and losing this contest. As it stands the Warren Central Vikings may have an edge on the Gulfport Admirals but nevertheless this will be a very heavily contested game. Below are the players to watch for throughout this round 2 contest.
As far as running the ball goes both teams are pretty average with their top rushers averaging nearly 75 yards per game. For the Admirals, Emmanuel Bentley(RB) is a steady running back while the Vikings’ Trey Hall(RB) also does an adequate job of hitting the open running lanes. These two backs will be supplemental to the passing game, which both teams prefer more.
When it comes to moving the ball down the field the quarterbacks are the lynchpin to the entire operation. Gulfport’s Jacob Palazzo(QB) has had an excellent season by throwing for nearly 1,900 yards with an exceptional completion rate. He will need to be extra accurate and quick with his decisions as he can be turnover prone. As a result, defenses are going to bring pressure to make him uncomfortable. Jacob can often make plays with his feet and being able to do so this week may be necessary when defenses attempt to make a coverage sack. Jack Wright(QB) is the main signal-caller for the Vikings who has an exceptionally high 68% completion rate. This can be due to the fact that they elect to run the ball more often than pass but nevertheless he gets the job done.
As far as the defense goes Gulfport appears to have the more polished defense led by Landon Pettis(OLB) a junior who has nearly 130 tackles for the year. He plays aggressively downhill and makes an impact on every play. Whether it is a pass play or a running play he is bound to be involved. The Vikings are led on defense by #5 Julien Demby Julien Demby 6'3" | 220 lbs | ATH Warren Central | 2024 State MS (LB) who is consistently making tackles behind or near the line of scrimmage. If his coordinators can dial up some blitzes for him he is sure to be a force to be reckoned with.
Prediction
Although Warren Central may be the favorite going into this game I would say that Gulfport stands a good chance against the Vikings. This will be a heavily contested game that will come down to a team gaining an extra possession and capitalizing on it.
