Top 5 Sack Leaders in Florida Through Week 8

This season we're going to spotlight the States top five leaders in all stat categories throughout the season. There's several highly recruited players as well as some under the radar prospects. At Prep Redzone we will always try and Spotlight as many players and Prospects as possible in a weekly basis.         1. [player_tooltip player_id='381584' first='DeeJay' last='Holmes'], DE- Pahokee High c/o 23   6'3 240lbs     Holmes is one of the top defensive players in the state of Florida and it's no surprise he's number one in the state in sacks for the returning Palm Beach County player of the year. On the season he's led an outstanding defense that has helped Pahokee to a 6-2 record. On the season he is registered 70 tackles, and outstanding 18.5 tackles for loss, and an unbelievable 21 sacks through eight games. He has 30 QB hurries! And if that isn't enough he's got an interception and two forced fumbles. He has all the skills and intangibles you look for in a big time player at the next level. The three-star Prospect has over 18 offers including offers from Pittsburgh, UCF, Wake Forest, and Boston College to name a few.     2. [player_tooltip player_id='404075' first='Booker' last='Pickett Jr']., DE/OLB- Wharton High c/o 24   6'4 200lbs     I discovered Pickett 2 years ago when he was a freshman and saw immense talent, and knew he would grow into being one of the top defensive prospects in the state. He's having an outstanding season in helping lead one of the best teams in Tampa in Wharton High to a 5-2 record and in the hunt for the playoffs. On the season he's registered 30 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and an outstanding 17 sacks. He's also forced three fumbles and has two pass deflections. Has tremendous length and covers a lot of ground, shows very good pass rush variety, and gets out of the stance extremely fast, quick twitch athlete with good quickness. Four-star prospect that has over 32 offers!     3. Jalyn Jackson, DE/LB- Fort Lauderdale High c/o 23   6'1 205lbs     Jackson has been a big time player for Fort Lauderdale and has currently helped the Flying L's get to a 4-3 record and is on the hunt for the playoffs this season. The senior is currently leading the team with 30 tackles, and unbelievable 19 tackles for loss, and is currently third in the state with 16.5 sacks! He also has two fumble recoveries and one force fumble. Jackson shows very good acceleration and short area quickness, can change directions smoothly and get to the ball in a hurry, has the speed (4.7 40) and athleticism to move back to linebacker. Under the radar player coaches need to check out.     4. Maverick Gracio, DE- Cardinal Newman High c/o 23   6'4 233lbs     Gracio is a stud edge defender playing for Powerhouse Cardinal Newman. He's part of an outstanding defense that's only given up 71 points in eight games, and has helped the Crusaders to an 8-0 record and one of the favorites to win a state championship this season. Through eight games this season the three-star Prospect is leading the team with 42 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and 16 sacks! Gracio is an all-around fantastic football player, gets out of his stance low and generates speed to power, possesses physicality to rip through blocks and get into the backfield, and has a relentless motor. He's currently committed to Kent State University.     5. Tae Floyd, DE- Forest High c/o 23   6'3 228lbs     Ford has been a dominant player for Forest High through seven games this season. On the season he's registered 60 tackles, and unbelievable 24 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, 18 QB hurries and 9 forced fumbles! He's a natural pass rusher that gets off the snap quickly, can bend and get around the edge, and plays with a high motor consistently. Has an offer from USF.
