I will be taking a deep look at our unsung heroes of the trenches focusing on line play as a whole and looking at young promising o-linemen. Here are a few guys who stood out to me on film. I will be exploring more as we head into the state playoffs! Offensive Line is a very intricate position and truly a position of failure. Here are some guys who I believe have bright futures and have been putting good things on film.
Just a few top inner city O-Linemen whose film stood out! Keep your eyes out for these Guys! More to Come!
Rahfeeq Katumbusi 6’3″ 300lbs Chicago Mount Carmel
-Big tough & Nasty-Big Smooth!
-Plays with great pad level and finishes blocks.
-Plays with solid overall technique definitely has a bright future.
-One of the anchors for the Carvan’s offense.
-Body control and stability will be his key to becoming top dog of this class.
Sean Goodrum Sean Goodrum 6'2" | 345 lbs | OL Simeon | 2024 IL 6’2″ 300 lbs- Simeon Career Academy
-Heavy Handed bully! Plays the game the right way, Angry!
-Accelerates through contact at 2nd level, is athletic pulling to next level.
-Plays DL as well but I think his future is with the “good guys”.
-One of the top dogs up front for the undefeated Simeon Wolverines.
-Playing with better overall knee bend will take his game to next level.
Marshawn Starks Marshawn Starks 6'4" | 300 lbs | OL Simeon Career Academy | 2024 IL 6’4″ 300lbs- Simeon Career Academy
-Big long frame! Looks every bit of a future FBS prospect.
-Athletic and very light on his feet does very well blocking in space.
-Tremendously high ceiling with his natural tools he has.
-With an offseason of solid work I think he can be special.
Brady Courtney 6’3″ 250lbs St. Rita High School
-Tough and gritty, exactly what I would expect from a Rita linemen playing off of 79th street.
-Great footwork and pad level run blocking.
-Finishes through the whistle.
-Plays under control and with great savvy.
-Needs to improve overall flexibility to become elite!
Kwan Johnson Kwan Johnson 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Eisenhower | 2024 IL 6’4″ 290lbs Eisenhower High School
-Big long and aggressive player.
-Moves well and does not shy away from contact.
-Great footwork and length on pass pro.
-Big Upside should gain alot of attention this camp season.
