Multiple people this week have found themselves with a similar sack total, but have done so in a different amount of games, against different circumstances. Regardless, each of these players achievements have not gone unnoticed, and below, we have listed their success to this point of the year. We suggest checking their film out when you get the chance, especially as each of them are beginning to become the talk of their towns.
De’zavion Holman- Best Academy
Even though we are already going into the 7th official week of high school football in Georgia, there have been plenty of players who have racked up an impressive sack total in less games. For example, Holman, who happens to be first place in the state, has seen himself achieve 9 sacks so far, in only 4 games. This has made for an average of 2.2 sacks a game. In addition to this, his defensive production has also made for 44 yards lost, and 4 QB hurries, proving that he has been an irreplaceable pass rusher for his team. As the season goes by, look to see him add to this total, and give every other player on this list a run for their money when it is all said and done.
AJ Pigford- South Gwinnett
Pigford, who has proven time and time again to be a high production player for his team, has continued to do so for his team in each of the 4 games he has appeared in. Just like Holman, he has a total of 9 sacks so far, and has an average of 2.2 sacks a game. Perhaps, the fact that he gets off of the ball with explosive movement, and fast feet, is a huge reason for this success. Even so, we would like to see him continue to wrap up well on ball carriers, especially in pursuit, and to bend a bit more fluidly when moving laterally.
Ezra Odinjor

– Allatoona
Just like each of the players above, Odinjor has had a successful first few games, and has totaled 9 sacks this season. Unlike each of the players before though, Odinijor has done so in 5 games, rather than 4. With this, He has averaged around 1.8 sacks a game, and has been a machine in tackles for a loss. His efforts in the backfield have resulted in 46 yards lost, and 2 QB hurries. Look for him to continue to adjust to different blocking schemes as the year goes by, and to continue to be a dominant player for his defense.
Aidan Butts- Stephens County
In the same amount of games as Odinijor, Butts has also had 9 sacks, with the same average of sacks per game. He has not only been a highlight of his team’s defensive production, but his versatility to make plays on both sides of the ball if needed is what makes him most versatile, and more fun to track down the stretch. Look for him to continue to develop as an all around player, and to help his team to even more wins, to add on to their 4-1 record.
Joshua Barker- Kell
In just 4 games, Barker has fallen just shy of each of the players above, but is within reasonable distance, as he has 8 sacks so far this year. This comes with an average of 2 sacks a game, and 6 QB hurries, proving that he has no problem getting to the passer. If he can continue to work on how he finishes plays, and how to use a 3 step technique, he may become one of the more productive sack leaders this season.
