Unpredictable. Chaotic. Exciting.
Just a few of the ways you can describe what occurred in Week 3 at the top level of Minnesota high school football. Four of the top five teams in Class AAAAAA in both the NFN and Associated Press rankings lost on Friday, including No. 1 Minnetonka’s 35-16 setback against Maple Grove.
The Crimson upset the Skippers on the strength of two defensive touchdowns and Evan Hull’s 199 yards and three touchdowns. No. 3 Prior Lake was also blown out, as Eden Prairie rebounded from its loss to Lakeville North, while fourth-ranked Cretin-Derham Hall (Woodbury) and fifth-ranked Edina (Wayzata) also suffered their first losses of the year.
North bumps up to the top spot this week, but the next six or seven spots are extremely fluid, and will likely continue to be in the coming weeks before we enter the stretch run of the regular season.
The rest of the seven classes of Minnesota high school football had relatively few changes entering the fourth week of games in the 2018 season.
