PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mark Hamper Mark Hamper 6'2" | 205 lbs | ATH West Linn | 2023 State OR ATH 23′ West Linn- As noted previously Hamper is a leading candidate for offensive and defensive POY honors in the state of Oregon. He’s the most versatile kid in the state, which was on display in their 56-6 win over North Medford, returning a punt for 60 and adding 2 more TDs, rushing and receiving.
Jordan Fisher Jordan Fisher 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB Westview | 2023 State OR RB 23′ Westview- One of the fastest rising recruits in all the Northwest did his thing again, helping to solidify his Cats as one of the top 10 6A teams in the state. He rushed for 237 yards and 2 TDs in the teams 31-28 win over then #8 Clackamas.
Baylor Corbin Baylor Corbin 6'2" | 175 lbs | ATH Lakeridge | 2023 State OR WR/DB 23′ Lakeridge- Corbin is a three year starter and impressed on defense last season. In Week 1 he ran circles around the Celtics secondary, catching 12 passes for 225 yards and 3 TDs, in the teams 47-0 win. He will be considered one of the top two way threats in Oregon this season.
Timmy Mitchell Jr. ATH 24′ Central Catholic- One of the state’s best for 2024 was key in the Rams 24-23 victory over the reigning state champs (Bellevue WA). The nation’s #24 ranked team. Mitchell had 84 yards receiving and 2 TDs which included a 98 yard kick return to the crib.
Jackson Pfeifer Jackson Pfeifer 5'11" | 175 lbs | RB Silverton | 2023 State OR RB 23′ Silverton- Pfeifer was listed as an Oregon 5A Offensive POY candidate for good reason. He scored five TD’s, four different ways (2 rushing, 1 reception, 1 INT, 1 Kick Return) with the reigning state champs beating Dallas 40-29.
Jack Wagner Jack Wagner 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Tualatin | 2023 State OR QB 23’/ Richie Anderson Richie Anderson 6'4" | 225 lbs | DL Tualatin | 2023 State OR TE/DE 23′ Tualatin- As of right now Wagner is a leading candidate for Oregon 6A POY honors. He backed that up nicely, passing for all 3 TDs in the teams 19-12 win over #1 5A Summit. Maybe the state’s top defensive player Anderson, showed out on offense catching two of those TDs.
Mateo Maehara QB 24′ Clackamas- Maehara stepped up big in his first game as a starter, passing for all four of the teams TDs, in the 31-28 loss to a talented Westview group. It’s unclear whether he will remain the starter with all conference senior QB Blake Baker Blake Baker 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Clackamas | 2023 State OR not playing week 1.
Drew Rodriguez Drew Rodriguez 6'2" | 200 lbs | DB Sprague | 2023 State OR ATH 23′ Sprague- Hopefully the Oly’s provide Rodriguez with some help. The Colorado St commit once again scored all 3 of his team’s TDs in the 21-19 loss to Liberty. The Colorado St commit literally put the team on his back on multiple occasions last year and he will need some help this season.
Tyler Konold Tyler Konold 6'0" | 200 lbs | ATH Canby | 2024 State OR RB 24′ Canby- Konold returns after an unreal sophomore season where he earned 1st team all state honors. It was a nice start to his junior campaign, rushing 23 times for 243 yards and 2 TDs, in the teams 21-18 road victory over Mt View.
Brayden Boe Brayden Boe 6'3" | 175 lbs | ATH Mountainside | 2025 OR WR/S 25′ Mountainside- The 6-4 D1 basketball player was lights out on both sides of the ball, catching a TD and picking off a pass. Look for the Sophomore to have options on the football side of things at the division 1 level as well.
Lonnie Burt Lonnie Burt 6'1" | 200 lbs | ATH Jesuit | 2024 State OR RB 24’/ Payton Roth Payton Roth 6'4" | 200 lbs | RB Jesuit | 2023 State OR RB 23′ Jesuit- Just to reiterate, maybe the top 1-2 RB punch in Oregon. The Crusaders fought off a talented Skyview, WA team 24-21, with both backs combining for 31 carries, 254 yards, and 3 TDs.
Ryan Oliver Ryan Oliver 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Lakeridge | 2023 State OR QB 23′ Lakeridge-I’ve been hollering Oliver’s name for a while now and it looks like it could be his year. He set career highs with 356 passing yards and 5 TDs while helping his #5 Pacers dominate McNary 47-0.
Josiah Davis Josiah Davis 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB North Salem | 2023 State OR RB 23′ North Salem- Davis probably deserves more credit and he could earn it this season playing 6A ball. The Vikings had their way with Roosevelt, winning 35-3, with the 3* RB rushing for over 200 yards and 3 TDs. His 4th time in the last 8 games.
Kyrin Fuimaono Kyrin Fuimaono 6'0" | 195 lbs | QB McKay | 2024 State OR QB 24′ McKay- I cant say enough good things about Fuiamono as he has been the primary reason for the Royal Scots turn around. He will end up a 4 year starter, throwing for another 300+ yards and 5 TDs, in the teams 41-39 loss to Lebanon.
Jace Eveland Jace Eveland 6'7" | 300 lbs | OL Redmond | 2025 State OR T 25′ Putnam- It’s rare that an O lineman is acknowledged on the players of the week list, but the 6-7 Eveland continues to impress and dominate opponents. He was close to double digit pancake blocks in the teams 28-7 win over crosstown rival Milwaukie.
David Brown RB 23′ Eagle Point- Very few people were aware of the 6-0 180 RB out of Southern Oregon, including myself. He rushed for over 300 yards and 7 TDs, in EP’s 54-33 win over Ashland. This being only the 3rd time in the last 5 years that a player at the 6A/5A level has scored seven touchdowns in a single game.
