For years, Ames has been known as a basketball school, turning out the likes of Harrison Barnes, Doug McDermott and Fred Hoiberg.

But this fall, the Little Cyclones are putting on a show on the football field.

During a 36-32 victory over long-time rival Fort Dodge during Week 2 action, Ames racked up over 500 yards of total offense and scored five offensive touchdowns.

Led by the likes of [player_tooltip player_id='104089' first='Dallas' last='Sauser'] and [player_tooltip player_id='252230' first='Jamison' last='Poe'], the orange and black attack are can't-miss action on Friday nights under the lights.

[player_tooltip player_id='252230' first='Jamison' last='Poe'] - Ames - RB/DB

What a night for [player_tooltip player_id='252230' first='Jamison' last='Poe'], as he returned to Fort Dodge to lead his new team, Ames. Poe, who grew up in Fort Dodge before moving to Ames, was nearly unstoppable against the Dodgers.

He had 210 yards rushing and three touchdowns, while catching four more passes for 109 yards and a fourth score. Poe, just a sophomore, displayed incredible quickness and vision, and, despite not being overly big, was tough to bring down.

Poe's fast first-step allows him to really slide through his line and miss tacklers. He does an excellent job of reading what is in front of him, scanning the field to break free. And when he does get free, not many on the other team can catch him from behind.

[player_tooltip player_id='104089' first='Dallas' last='Sauser'] - Ames - QB

For the past few years, [player_tooltip player_id='104089' first='Dallas' last='Sauser'] has churned out big season after big season. The senior recently surpassed 5,000 yards passing, and paired now with a strong run threat in [player_tooltip player_id='252230' first='Jamison' last='Poe'], this could be the chance Ames needs to make a deep playoff run.

Sauser, a big, strong lefty, completed 19 of 32 for 366 yards with two touchdowns. His interception came on a batted ball that should have been completed. Sauser didn't show much in terms of running with the football, but he has the ability to do so when called upon.

[player_tooltip player_id='247562' first='Jalen' last='Lueth'] - Ames - WR

[player_tooltip player_id='247562' first='Jalen' last='Lueth'] looks like he could dominate on the basketball court, but he is also a threat on the football field. Checking in at 6-foot-3, Lueth kept his composure while the focal point of the Fort Dodge defense before breaking free in the second half.

He had five catches for nearly 50 yards with a touchdown, but it was his threat and past success that made the FDSH secondary keep multiple sets of eyes on him. That allowed [player_tooltip player_id='152918' first='Braydon' last='Beelner'] to go over 100 yards receiving, along with [player_tooltip player_id='252230' first='Jamison' last='Poe'].

For years, Ames has been known as a basketball school, turning out the likes of Harrison Barnes, Doug McDermott and Fred Hoiberg.
