Timber Creek Offense Gets Boost for 2020 Season

Timber Creek finished 7-4 in 2019. Their season ended in the semi-finals of the Central Jersey Group 3 state tournament against Rumson-Fair Haven. They were able to pick up a 21-20 win over Winslow on Thanksgiving Day following the loss. In 2020, their already big time offense picked up an extra boost at the running back position.
[player_tooltip player_id="27874" first="Johnny" last="Martin"] III will be joining Timber Creek for his final high school season. Martin spent the first three years of his career at Highland. He rushed for 1,052 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2019 before being named All-State. Martin announced his commitment to Temple back in May. He will be joining a team that already has some elite offensive talent in the Class of 2022.
Timber Creek is led by [player_tooltip player_id="27971" first="Donovan" last="Leary"] under center. He threw for 3,054 yards and 28 touchdowns as a sophomore. Leary is going to be one of the most sought after quarterbacks in New Jersey. His game film looks great but Leary is a player that you have to see in person to believe. Leary is incredibly accurate at all levels of the field. His arm strength parlayed with deep ball accuracy gives the ability to make any throw on the field. The ball explodes out of his hand and he has strong receivers to catch it.
Tarheeb Still was the team’s leading receiver in 2019 but he is onto Maryland. This leaves Leary with Dior Boyd, who finished with 577 yards and eight touchdowns last season, and Taquan Brittingham, who is set for a breakout season as a sophomore. Timber Creek’s offense takes a big step by adding Martin, who can also act as a receiver out of the backfield.
Timber Creek has talent on both sides of the ball. In 2020, they have a chance to take the next step towards a state title with Leary and Martin leading the way.
