They have one of the top senior backs in the state in Marlon Mitchell, who has run wild so far this season. After a big game in the season opener where he ran for 219 yards and two touchdowns, Mitchell came up big again last weekend, rushing for 227 yards and three touchdowns in week two. He averaged 10.3 yard per carry and likely should've carried the ball more. The tackle-breaking 5-foot-10 200-pounder has no problem bowling through would-be tackles, but his explosiveness for his size makes him to tough to handle for opposing defenses. He's now averaging 223 yards per game after two outstanding games to start the season.

Khalif Walters - Osborne

An under the radar back in Cobb County, the senior out of Osborne High School is off to a terrific start to the season and had a giant week two running the ball, rushing 23 times for 192 yards and three touchdowns in a big 42-13 win over Chattahoochee. He's a big play waiting to happen to due his speed, burst, and field vision. He hits the hole hard and has some explosiveness to his game, allowing him to break long runs on any particular play. If there's a hole to run through, he's going to hit it hard and look to score. He's agile, can make defenders miss, and a dangerous runner in the open field. He's been tough to stop through two games, and with his Osborne team playing well, look for Walters to continue running through defenses consistently this year.

Peyton Streko - West Forsyth

It may have come in a losing effort, but make no mistake, West Forsyth running back Peyton Streko is BACK. After getting dinged up in the season opener against Archer, the star Wolverine back came back in week two and picked up right where he left off from last year. A true do-it-all back with speed, power, and agility, the Air Force commitment had a big week two, rushing 29 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns. With the Wolverines still figuring things out in the passing game, it's important they have a healthy Streko back there carrying the ball. He's a tough, physical back, but he also has plenty of speed. Hopefully Streko can stay healthy and continue proving why he's one of the top 2023 running backs north of Atlanta.

Ryan Taleb - Houston County

A breakout running back to know in Middle Georgia, the 5-foot-10 185-pound junior ran wild against Perry in week two, shredding them for 200 yards and four touchdowns in the Bears' high-scoring 57-56 victory. He showed vision, speed, and balance all night, and he was looking to score every time he had the ball. His most impressive run came on a long 85-yard score where he spun out of a tackle around thee line of scrimmage, stayed on his feet, and took off down the sideline, eluding a would-be tackle right before crossing the goal-line. He did a great job of following his blocks and showed quick footwork, changing direction on a dime when a hole opened up. He showed D1 potential on Friday night and has a chance to be one of the best new backs in Middle Georgia this season.

In week two of the high school football season we saw multiple running backs step up and have giant games. Some came in wins and others came out on the losing side, but it's clear there is plenty of running back talent across the state, and we saw it in week two.
