It is always impressive to me to see the caliber of athlete that plays in the secondary. Both the cornerback and safety positions are always well represented in the Prep Redzone Arkansas rankings throughout the year. In this article, we are going to look at some of the prospects in the 2023 defensive back class. If the names aren't familiar, they will be by the time the state playoffs start up in November.

[player_tooltip player_id='75139' first='Floyd' last='Williams']-Gosnell-6'1” 170-Pounds

Williams is a cornerback that has excellent speed. He does a great job of playing the ball while it is in the air. Williams is not afraid to get physical with opposing wide receivers and he does a good job of using his hands to jam opposing wide receivers. He had a strong summer and I look for that trend to continue into the 2022 football season. With numerous scholarship offers to his credit, I expect for him to earn a few more offers throughout the course of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='91975' first='CJ' last='Turner']-Star City-6'2” 200-Pounds

Turner is one of the most versatile prospects in the class of 2023. He plays on both sides of the ball for Star City and is a prospect that has already committed to the Colorado Buffaloes. Turner has no trouble separating the ball from the ball carrier. At the next level, he is more of a safety/linebacker hybrid, and I love how aggressive he plays. Watch for Turner this season on both sides of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='133156' first='Nick' last='Bell']-Bentonville West-5'10” 155-Pounds

[player_tooltip player_id='133156' first='Nick' last='Bell'] is one of the most persistent cornerbacks in the state of Arkansas. He makes opposing wide receivers work to get open. Bell is another defensive back with impressive speed that allows him to be more aggressive with opposing wide outs. He is not afraid to make a hit in both the passing and rushing attacks. Bell is a defensive back that folks will want to keep an eye on for the Wolverines this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='201147' first='Anton' last='Pierce']-Little Rock Mills-6'3” 205-Pounds

Little Rock Mills is loaded on the defensive side of the ball this season. [player_tooltip player_id='201147' first='Anton' last='Pierce'] has had a tremendous summer on the 7-on-7 circuit and I expect him to continue to rack up the honors this season. Pierce can make plays on the ball with little trouble. He has no trouble picking off passes and taking it the other direction. The Army commit has the potential for a big 2023 season, and it would not surprise me to see Little Rock Mills make a playoff run.

[player_tooltip player_id='319180' first='Miguel' last='Graham']-Bryant-6'2” 175-Pounds

One of the most physical defensive backs in the state of Arkansas is a part of the Bryant Hornets' secondary. Graham is a disruptive defensive back that can play the safety or cornerback positions with equal effectiveness. He is a defensive back that can take advantage of any mistake. The Central Arkansas commit has the opportunity to close out his high school playing career with another state championship.

[player_tooltip player_id='180294' first='JT' last='Tomescko']-Bentonville-6'2” 175-Pounds

Tomescko is a defensive back that can make plays on the ball on a consistent basis. Tomescko worked on both sides of the ball last season and knows what to do with he ball when he picks off a pass. He is not afraid to deliver a hit in both the run and passing games. Tomescko is a prospect that I expect to have a strong season as the Tigers look to make a playoff run with the ultimate destination being War Memorial Stadium.
