The decision to leave California was due to CIF’s decision to push football back into January. Georgia is one of the 25 states that currently plans to play football as planned in the fall.
Garcia played his freshman year at Long Beach Poly and the past two seasons at Narbonne. When former Narbonne coach Manny Douglas was forced to resign, Garcia transferred to La Habra to play his senior year. He is on track to graduate early and if he had stayed at La Habra he would have missed his senior season.
“I’m really excited about the decision,” Garcia told Greg Biggins of 247Sports. “For me, it was big to play as a senior. I need those game reps and this is going to be a big year for me mentally as well in terms of preparing for college.”
“I think senior year is a really important time to learn and get better. This will be big for my development and I felt this was the best move for me to make long term.”

Valdosta was ranked No. 22 in the state of Georgia at the end of last season according to MaxPreps. Garcia will play for legendary coach Rush Propst, who rose to prominence as the head coach at Hoover High in Alabama which was chronicled on the MTV show “Two-A-Days.” He will have a pair of elite receivers at Valdosta in Aalah Brown Aalah Brown 5'11" | 180 lbs | WR Valdosta | 2021 State GA and Javonte Sherman Javonte Sherman 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Valdosta | 2021 State GA . Sherman is committed to Eastern Carolina.
“That’s a big time program,” Garcia told Biggins. “Football is huge in the South so I’m looking forward to the experience. I’m exited to see what Southern football is all about, plus I have family in Atlanta and they talked about what a great school Valdosta is and what great tradition they have.”
Garcia completed 70 percent of his passes for 2,301 yards and 25 touchdowns in 9 games for Narbonne last season.
The decision to move to Georgia does not effect his commitment to USC. Garcia told Biggins that he has been in communication with the coaching staff at USC and that they support his decision.
