Playmakers who can score are important in the playoffs, but so are defenders who can stop all those skill guys and Jacque is that guy for Middletown. The 2 time defensive player of the year, he is a tackling machine. Jacque racked up over 100 tackles on the season and has 552 total tkls in his career at Middletown. Outstanding numbers from a LB and you just know the ball isn’t getting passed him. Jacque also added 21 TFLs, 9 sacks and 3 FFs this season.

Jacque flies to the ball, comes downhill with intent and will lay out a ball carrier. An effective blitzer up the middle he is constantly in the backfield disrupting plays. Jacque is also athletic enough to drop in coverage, and moves well laterally to get sideline to sideline chasing down ball carriers. He is a sawed off physical, fast, and violent backer…out there reminding me of Zack Thomas. You need an ILB like that in your squad in the playoffs to make the tough plays and bring the energy down after down.

Overview: Wilson is a rugged football player who also plays inside linebacker and long snapper. He plays with his hair on fire, running up-and-down the sidelines to the ball and bringing bad intentions when he gets there. Wilson can also patiently scrape over the top or run through or around blockers before cutting down bigger ball-carriers. When snapping, he gets the ball out clean and hustles down the field to the returner. So if he doesn’t get the opportunity to play either inside backer position on college, he definitely has the ability to be a specialist.

Jacque Wilson is a tough, instinctive linebacker who plays with a ton of energy. His first clip shows him blocking a punt, proving he’s a special-teams asset. The second play is even better. Wilson is in zone coverage, sees the quarterback take off, and closes in fast for a big hit behind the line. Wilson ‘s burst and closing speed stand out in his highlights. He flies off the edge for sacks and even tracks down a slot receiver to limit the gain. In run defense, he tackles well and stays under control. Wilson also shows good lateral quickness and doesn’t waste steps while using his pursuit angles. At 5’11” and 200 pounds, he may need to bulk up a bit to take on college linemen. Wilson ‘s instincts, effort, and versatility make him a strong prospect.
