STOCK RISERS: 2023 Defensive Backs Earn New Ranking

The Pittsburgh commitment covers a lot of ground, closes quickly on receivers, and does a nice job of deflecting passes away from the receiver. Not only did he pick off four passes, but he broke up another 12, showing his ability to close and cover against anyone he's lined up against. Pollock He runs well, has plenty of length on his lean frame at 6-foot-1 185-pounds, and shows natural instincts in the secondary. Now, he's ranked as the No. 48 prospect heading into the 2022 season. He plays hard, plays fast, and knows how to make a play when the ball is in the air. He consistently flashes on film and showed why he's a D1-caliber talent. A long, versatile safety at 6-foot-2 175-pounds, the Louisville Cardinals commit showed last year that he's instinctive in coverage, shows good ball skills, and has length that defensive back coaches covet. He's rangy in coverage, knows how to come downhill against the run, and doesn't mind contact. He reads the ball well in the air and covers a lot of ground sideline to sideline. There's a lot to like about his game, and he was one of the top defenders on a loaded Collins Hill defense last fall. At 6-foot-2 175-pounds, Clark is a tough defender with size, and while he missed his junior season due to injury, he had an impressive sophomore season where he made 85 tackles, PBUs and one INT. He's a rangy defender who can really come down and set the tone against the run. He's a powerful hitter and leaves a bruise when he hits the ball-carrier. He's also reliable when the ball is in the air as he tracks it down well and doesn't let defenders get behind him down the field. He's healthy and looking forward to a giant senior season in 2022. Now, Cost is committed to play for North Carolina after choosing the Tar Heels over schools like Boston College, East Carolina, among others. Cost is also ranked in the top-100 overall prospects in the state, coming in at No. 62 in the updated Prep Redzone Rankings. The Atlanta-area playmaker is long, athletic, and knows how to make a play on the football. His versatility also stands out as he can also line up in the middle of the field at safety and has no problem laying out a big hit on a receiver trying to come across the middled. Cost shows great burst with the ball in his hands and was consistently one of the biggest playmakers on the field last season, showing why he was a top target for the Tar Heels in the 2023 class.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
