2023 WV Top 50: Tight Ends

The tight end position has grown and developed into a multi-faceted offensive weapon that allows offenses to create mismatches throughout the duration of a game. The ability to line up in different alignments whether it be in the slot or on the line, allows the tight end position to have multiple opportunities to create big plays.   The 2023 West Virgina has five tight ends on the list and every one of them demonstrates the ability to be a reliable pass catcher in many facets of the passing game and the ability to be a key factor in the run game as a blocker.   Let's take a look at the tight end group for the 2023 West Virgina top 50:   Nathan Lhotsky 6-4 225 Robert C. Byrd High School   The Virgina Military Institute commit demonstrates the natural ball skills that are required and coveted at the tight end position. He shows to have awareness when running routes and understands how to use leverage to create separation from the defender. He shows to have good awareness after the catch and can extend plays with his speed to stretch the field. He shows off his speed for his size when he is in the open field and can separate from defenders with ease. [player_tooltip player_id='380434' first='Cody' last='Schultz'] 6-4 225 Point Pleasant High School   The tall athletic tight end that has the ability to line up on the outside and shows to have good ball skills and the ability to out muscle defensive backs as well. He runs crisp accurate routes to create separation and make key plays.
