After watching hours upon hours of highlight tapes, we decided to look at the best prospects without a single FBS offer in the 2021 class. A few of these prospects hold lower level offers but are still waiting on the Division one level to come through. We took an in-depth look at the Top four!
WR: Kendrick Watkins-Hogue Kendrick Watkins-Hogue 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Dubuque | 2021 IA , 6’, 165, Dubuque
This kid was an absolute nightmare for opposing defensive backs in 2019. He showed great burst and acceleration to go along with soft hands. He does a good job of getting in cornerbacks blind spots and causes them to lose him during his route. He consistently just ran by defensive backs and left them behind in the dust. He’s a spectacular route runner and understands how to use his stem against DB’s. I would be downright shocked if this kid didn’t pick up some FBS offers. He was a big play waiting to happen in 2019 and should be even better this fall.
OL: Jordan Ver Meer Jordan Ver Meer 6'6" | 280 lbs | OL West Lyon | 2021 State IA , 6’6, 280, West Lyon Sr
When you turn on the film, you can’t help but notice the sheer size of this kid. He’s every bit of 6’6, but what’s most impressive is how well he moves. It’s hard to find quality tackles who can move as well as Ver Meer. He showed great knee drive on film and consistently played with a low pad level. He explodes off the ball and is steady at the point of attack. He had no problem reaching defensive ends and was a natural at getting up to the second level on double teams. Currently, he has two FCS offers, but I have to think at least one FBS school is on its way.
LB: Tucker Langenberg Tucker Langenberg 6'2" | 205 lbs | LB Urbandale | 2021 State IA , 6’2, 205, Urbandale
This is one of the ones I can’t seem to figure out. On-film, this kid is an athletic freak and making play after play. He has good size at 6’2, yes, he’ll need to add some weight, but that’s nothing to fret over. He has great speed for an outside linebacker and was electric as a tight end as well. He understands route concepts and rarely bites on shallow routes. He’s got phenomenal acceleration and can come up and make a play in an instant. Not to mention, he will flat out smack you in the mouth if you have the football. I legitimately believe this guy is a Power-Five talent.
OL: Drew Hoth Drew Hoth 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL Cedar Falls | 2021 IA , 6’4, 270, Cedar Falls
Cedar Falls is known for producing talented offensive linemen, and it looks like they may have their next great one. Hoth plays mean and is a downright punishing finisher. He is technically sound and is as flexible as they come for an offensive lineman. He’s a natural in pass protection, equipped with quick feet and the ability to easily move laterally. Hoth does a good job of getting his second step in the ground quickly and has a ton of pop in his punch. Right now, he has a bunch of Division two offers, but if he continues to play like he did last fall, I don’t think Division ones will be able to say no.
