Sebring Came So Close In 2021

<strong>SEBRING FOOTBALL</strong><strong> 2022. </strong> <strong>Head Coach:</strong> LaVaar Scott <strong>2021 Record:</strong> 9-4 <strong>THE BLUE STREAKS</strong> When this team looks back at 2021 and sees how close they were to be playing for a 5A state title, there is that stinging in the bottom of the stomach that still exists today – some eight months later. Losing to Merritt Island, 12-10, was indeed a tough pill to swallow, because this program was right there, knocking on a door that it had never been through. While that loss in the state playoffs to Merritt Island, and setbacks against Clearwater Central Catholic, Sarasota Riverview and Bartow hurt, it gave this program plenty of confidence and a belief that they can play with anyone and have a legitimate shot again this coming year. Remember, after three early season losses, there was that impressive string of seven consecutive victories, which included state playoff wins against Wesley Chapel (41-0), St. Petersburg Gibbs (29-0) and a tough Clearwater team (13-12) on the road. With a solid spring out of the way, this summer has been quite rewarding.
