The 6A classification in Georgia is one of the biggest and best across the peach state, and that means there’s plenty of talent across the board. It’s a classification with programs that have no trouble scoring, and we saw plenty find the endzone on a weekly basis last fall. Here are some prospects who scored the most touchdowns last year in 6A... [player_tooltip player_id="321265" first="Jamarion" last="Wilcox"] – South Paulding One of the toughest and most productive backs across Georgia last fall, the South Paulding back, coming off an excellent junior season, was an absolute touchdown machine as a junior last fall, finding the endzone 25 times on the season. Not only is he a bruising, tackle-breaking back with size at 5-foot-10 195pounds, but he’s shown recently that he’s also one of the fastest backs in the state as well. Rushing for over 1,500 yards last season, Wilcox dominated on Friday nights, and he runs extremely well for someone with his frame. Wilcox has been times at 4.46 and a 4.49 this year in the 4–yard dash, an excellent time for someone his size. For a guy who breaks a lot of tackles, and who can also make defenders miss, his speed makes him to tough to handle for opposing defenses. He’s a threat to score whenever he has the ball, and he can help in the passing game as well. He rushed for 23 scores and added two receiving touchdowns last fall. He’s the No. 3 RB in the state according to Prep Redzone, and a true "touchdown machine". Jack Marlow - Cambridge One of the more underrated backs in Fulton County, the junior out of Cambridge was an excellent option on offense last year, finding the endzone as both a runner and receiver all season long. A two-way standout for the Bears, Marlow is a tough, fierce competitor and one of the top overall players in the region. He’s coming off an outstanding junior season where he scored 13 total touchdowns and tallied over 1,000 total yards. Marlow rushed for 9 touchdowns on the season with 3 scores coming in the playoffs against a tough South Paulding team. He also added 4 receiving touchdowns, proving he’s one of the more versatile offensive players in the area. He’s a true "under the radar" prospect who should find the endzone over and over in 2022. LaTrelle Murrell - Douglas County One of the more underrated backs in all of 6A, Murrell had plenty of success on the ground last year, rushing for over 1,000 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns, adding one more as a receiver. A speedy back who is dangerous in the open field, Murrell always has his eye on the endzone and wants to get there with every carry. He rushed for over 135 yards in four games last year with his best game coming in a 4-touchdown, 165-yard performance against Dalton. He also had a game against Alexander where he rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns. He was a true game-changer at times and was one of the more productive backs in all of 6A last year. He’s absolutely one of the top 2023 backs in the area for the upcoming season. [player_tooltip player_id="327206" first="Jailen" last="Taylor"] – Kennesaw Mountain One of Cobb’s County’s biggest playmakers as a receiver last year, Taylor showed he was a true touchdown machine and one of the best receivers in 6A. The 6-foot-1 175-pounder finished with 710 yards and 10 TDs, so calling him a “breakout” candidate might be a stretch. In 2021, Taylor finished with a ridiculous 32.3 YPC. The playmaking Mustang also recorded two rushing touchdowns, showing his versatility and ability to score in different ways. The track star has elite, game-changing speed, and that should help him find the endzone more and more next fall. Taylor has already received some offers from schools like Akron, UAB, and Eastern Kentucky, but with a huge senior season, Taylor could become a late bloomer for some power 5 teams this fall.
