Continue ReadingThe state of Georgia has developed a great reputation for its football prospects. All throughout the state, it is a gold mine of talent. The state constantly produces Power 5 prospects, as well as that of small school talent. While the Atlanta area, as well as many south Georgia counties are primarily known for the talent in which they produce, there are often times areas that are overlooked who also produce talent worth taking note of. Specifically, Coweta County, which is west of Atlanta, is a little known place that has competitive football, and small name talent. While this area is not talked about much, it has its fair share of talent. Recognizable names that come from this area include that of Keith Brooking, Tray Matthews, and Alec Ogletree. While Coweta County hopes to continue to compete with the rest of the state, some of its top players look to gain some more attention along the way. Below, we have listed a prospect from each Coweta County school who we feel are worth keeping an eye on.
Daniel Shoch 2022 (QB)- East Coweta
East Coweta fans should keep an eye on Daniel Shoch going into the 2020 football season. Shoch, a transfer QB from Selinsgrove Area High School in PA, hopes to be a contributing factor to the Indians passing game. He not only displays the ability to be an accurate passer, but shows that he can be mobile as well. While he can be a bit raw in his footwork and mechanics at times, Indians fans can look forward to him being able to distribute the ball effectively this upcoming season. Shoch sees the field well, and can make good decisions as the play begins to develop. As he continues to develop, working on his arm strength, and ability to put more velocity behind the ball will help take his game to the next level.
Bryson Moss Bryson Moss 5'8" | 195 lbs | RB Newnan County | 2021 State GA 2021 (RB)- Newnan
Bryson Moss Bryson Moss 5'8" | 195 lbs | RB Newnan County | 2021 State GA has been a key factor to Newnan’s offense since his freshman year. Each time Moss has the ball in his hands, he displays his unique patience, vision, and burst. This almost always results in him making a play, or picking up necessary yards. It’s a surprise he has not gained more attention than he has, because he also runs powerfully behind his pads, and allows for his short area quickness to make him even harder to bring to the ground. While we question his top end speed at times, we feel that Moss can play at the next level and are excited to see where his senior year brings him.
Logan Estes 2021(LB)- Northgate
Northgate football has made a name for itself the past few years, and in the past, has even developed players such as Brandon Facyson, of the Los Angeles Chargers. In present day, players such as Logan Estes has set himself apart and has become a defensive force for the Vikings. As a LB, Estes plays with good leverage and moves well when defending the run. He takes good angles and can make tackles in pursuit, which has been huge for the Vikings. Moving forward, he should look to work on his speed, and this will easily work wonders for his instinctive ability to play LB. We feel that his developmental frame will also be a contributing factor to what we believe will be a successful senior season for him.
Brandon Scruggs 2021 (WR)- The Heritage School
There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Brandon Scruggs ability to play football. While he is a great WR, he also has the ability to play DB at a high level. For Heritage, a private school, his ability to play both sides of the ball helps the team immensely. With the ball in his hands, he is a slippery athlete with great speed. With this, he catches the ball cleanly with his hands, and tracks it well with his eyes. Scruggs is constantly making plays and his physicality makes him even more of a force for his team. Going into next season, we expect him to start to gain more attention from mid-tier college programs.
David Dallas David Dallas 6'0" | 200 lbs | QB Trinity Christian | 2022 State GA 2022 (QB)- Trinity Christian School
Perhaps the best QB in the county, David Dallas David Dallas 6'0" | 200 lbs | QB Trinity Christian | 2022 State GA is coming off of a very successful Sophomore season, and looks to improve upon such things in the 2020 season. He is a very athletic player who can make plays with his legs and is a good intermediate passer. Dallas shows that he can drive the ball well and can be accurate with various kinds of throws, which always places the ball in a good position for his receivers. While he has a great amount of upside and potential that can project to college level programs, where he can go will be determined on his ability to remain consistent, and to be able to continue to improve upon his mechanics and ability to make college level throws. The sky is the limit.
