The last class we will highlight in the top players preview for this season is class 5A. First in this class we will cover the top offensive players, which includes one of the top runningbacks in the class of 2021 and one of the most successful QBs in Oklahoma high school football history. Let’s jump into it. Quarterbacks 1. [player_tooltip player_id="38534" first="Ben" last="Harris"]: 6’2" 210 Lbs., Carl Albert, Class of 2021
Similar to Bixby QB [player_tooltip player_id="38531" first="Mason" last="Williams"], [player_tooltip player_id="38534" first="Ben" last="Harris"] has developed quite the resume over his career at Carl Albert. Over the span of his 3-year career to this point, Ben has gone 42-1 as a starter and has won 3 state championships. With many of his top contributors coming back in 2020 it would not be a surprise if Harris led Carl Albert to another undefeated state championship season to end his historic high school career.
2. [player_tooltip player_id="38687" first="Gage" last="Hamm"]: 6’3" 195 Lbs., Coweta, Class of 2022
[player_tooltip player_id="38687" first="Gage" last="Hamm"] is an athlete who played all over the field on both sides of the ball for Coweta in 2019 but is likely to focus in at quarterback in the future. Hamm threw for over 2200 yards and 22 TDs in 2019 and showed some encouraging traits. He has great footwork in the pocket, a quick and clean release, and the ability to change his arm angle in certain scenarios while maintaining accuracy. Hamm is one of the best pure passers in the class of 2022 and he is still improving.
Honorable Mentions: [player_tooltip player_id="38688" first="Dorian" last="Plumley"]: 6’3" 195 Lbs., El Reno, Class of 2022 | [player_tooltip player_id="38557" first="Luke" last="Tarman"]: 6’0" 185 Lbs., Bishop McGuinness, Class of 2021 Runningbacks 1. [player_tooltip player_id="38487" first="Javion" last="Hunt"]: 6’0" 205 Lbs., Carl Albert, Class of 2021
[player_tooltip player_id="38487" first="Javion" last="Hunt"] is one of the most electric offensive players in the state. At 6’ 205 Lbs he has prototypical running back size and he has the ability to be a true 3-down back. He has been a jack of all trades for Carl Albert, playing RB, Wildcat QB, Linebacker, and even Cornerback. He is smooth and elusive in the open field with true homerun speed capabilities, while also not being afraid to run someone over and use his power side. Additionally, while having limited reps in 2019, Hunt flashed natural hands and adequate route-running out of the backfield showing that he can do it all at the next level. Along with Union RB [player_tooltip player_id="38488" first="AJ" last="Green"], Hunt is currently committed to Arkansas. This means that even after their high school careers are done they will be going against each other again to see who is RB1, this time on the same team.
2. [player_tooltip player_id="38529" first="Te’Zohn" last="Taft"]: 5’11" 170 Lbs., Sapulpa, Class of 2021
[player_tooltip player_id="38529" first="Te’Zohn" last="Taft"] is an electric athlete with incredible speed and agility. Taft played RB and WR for Sapulpa in 2019, but looked more comfortable at RB. He has more than just one-cut ability, can make people miss in the open field, and then leave them in the dust with his second gear. He will have to bulk up if he wants to be a do it all back, but he has the skillset to be an outside runner as well as a legit receiving threat.
Honorable Mentions: TreVaughn Walton: 5’9" 170 Lbs., Eisenhower, Class of 2022 | [player_tooltip player_id="38535" first="Gerard" last="Thompson"]: 5’10" 175 Lbs., Edison, Class of 2021 Wide Receivers 1. [player_tooltip player_id="38689" first="Jaylon" last="Orange"]: 5’10" 190 Lbs., Shawnee, Class of 2022
[player_tooltip player_id="38689" first="Jaylon" last="Orange"] is an uber-productive offensive weapon that comes into 2020 as one of the biggest threats in the state. In 2019. Orange accumulated 1200 total yards and 14 TDs on offense. He was used at RB, WR, and even occasionally as a wildcat QB on short-yardage and RedZone situations. Watch out for Orange to become one of the top prospects in the state over his next two seasons.
2. [player_tooltip player_id="38532" first="Nasir" last="Kemper"]: 6’1" 190 Lbs., Lawton McArthur, Class of 2021
Nasir is a great overall athlete who has been used in various positions. In 2019, he was used as a running back and wide receiver on offense, and also returned kicks. He is still developing as a football player, but once he is in the open field he runs with nice agility and speed. Nasir is listed as a WR but could play RB at the next level as well, so 2020 will be an interesting year for Nasir to see if he has a more clear cut role in the McArthur offense.
Honorable Mentions: Gunnar McCollough: 6’3" 220 Lbs., Coweta, Class of 2021 | [player_tooltip player_id="38581" first="William" last="McGuire"]: 6’0" 170 Lbs., East Central, Class of 2021 Offensive Lineman 1. [player_tooltip player_id="38517" first="Noah" last="Dobson"]: 6’3" 360 Lbs., Carl Albert, Class of 2021
Carl Albert has been dominant all over the field for the past three seasons and it’s no different on the offensive line. Dobson is one of the heavier linemen in the class at 360 Lbs. but he does not move like it. His combination of size, strength, and speed is special and will be fun to watch once again in 2020.
2. [player_tooltip player_id="38556" first="Iman" last="Oates"]: 6’3" 310 Lbs., Tulsa Edison, Class of 2021
Oates is another lineman in this class who comes into his senior year with college-ready size and technique. Oates is 6’3", however, his physical attribute that many scouts love the most is his 75-inch wingspan, which is up there with many linemen who were drafted to the NFL this past April. Oates has offers from many Division 2 schools and will definitely receive many more as the season progresses.
Honorable Mentions: [player_tooltip player_id="38588" first="Andre" last="Bucktrot"] 6’3" 280 Lbs., Hale, Class of 2021 | [player_tooltip player_id="38560" first="Davon" last="Moore"]: 6’4" 300 Lbs., Guthrie, Class of 2021
