Consistent Lakewood Will Challenge Again

<strong>ST. PETERSBURG LAKEWOOD FOOTBALL</strong><strong> 2022. </strong> <strong>Head Coach:</strong> Cory Moore <strong>2021 Record: </strong>10-3 <strong>THE SPARTANS</strong> If you have followed this program through the years, nobody has to tell you how successful they have been. Producing collegiate and NFL talent, this is one of Florida’s elite programs that have never backed away from competition. This team lost on three times last season – and they were all to elite competition – such as 3A state champion Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna (37-6), annual power Lakeland (13-12) and in the playoffs to two-time defending 4A state champion Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons (36-18). In establishing themselves as a state power, the took care of business against Gulfport Boca Ciega (27-12), Palmetto (15-6), St. Petersburg Gibbs (52-6), Delray Beach Atlantic (34-28), Lakeland Kathleen (34-20), Largo (32-29), Tarpon Springs East Lake (36-6) and Wauchulla Hardee County (56-21). In the state playoffs, the Spartans beat Belle Glade Glades Central (27-12) and Clewiston (21-7) before losing to Cardinal Gibbons. After an impressive spring, the summer is expected to see this program attend several events in and out of the state.
