PRZJordan’s Prospect Tour Risers – DBs

We held our Prep Redzone Illinois Prospect Tour on May 7th out at Westmont Yard where we had high-level competition along with college coaches getting in-person evals. It was a great time being able to have these young men compete and get to chat with a few afterward. With that being said, let's dive into DB Risers from our Prospect Tour Showcase. <hr /> <em><strong>Charles Miles 24' 6'0 Thornton Fractional South DB MVP <a href="https://twitter.com/CJ_Miles27">Twitter</a></strong></em> https://twitter.com/PRZJordan/status/1523067464766017538?s=20&amp;t=-CHGQxc14Pu-_VLeaUCukA https://twitter.com/PRZJordan/status/1524136363506995201?s=20&amp;t=-CHGQxc14Pu-_VLeaUCukA Mr. Miles had a good showing during our Prospect Tour and even walked away with the DB MVP award. He was also able to broad jump 9'7" as well. This young man's fluid flip of his hips allows him to take good breaks on the ball and was able to showcase his trail technique as well. He can take good breaks on the ball where he can either undercut the route or jump the route forcing pass breakups. If you end up gaining a step advantage on this young man, he can close space quickly on the defender to recover which puts him in a position to make a play on the ball. This young man provides glimpses of his fluid flip of his hips to turn and run with the receiver without losing much of a step. He provides glimpses of being able to undercut routes to make a play on the ball, this all happens when he takes a good break on the ball. If the receiver attempts to win over the top, he has the ability to turn to run with the receiver on deep shots downfield staying step for step at times. I'm interested to see how he produces during his Senior Season Campaign. &nbsp; <em><strong>Jeremiah Morris 24' 5'8 Yorkville <a href="https://twitter.com/JJMorris_6">Twitter</a></strong></em> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-337059" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/05/050722-PrepRedZone-Prospect-Tour-Headshots-090.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /> Mr. Morris is a newer name to me heading into this showcase and one that caught my eye during 1 on 1s. This young man showcased the ability to jump routes putting him in a position to make a play and can get his hand in the receiver's basket forcing pass breakups. At times, he got beat by the receiver getting to his toes quickly. When this happened, he showcased his closing speed to recover quickly closing the space between him and the receiver putting him back in a position to make a play on the ball. <iframe src="https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/14646708/61b2ac744debbc08e851e91a" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> &nbsp; <em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="291196" first="Elijah" last="Romeus"] 24' 6'0 Fenwick <a href="https://twitter.com/ElijahRomeus">Twitter</a></strong></em> https://twitter.com/PRZJordan/status/1523104601083240448?s=20&amp;t=-CHGQxc14Pu-_VLeaUCukA Mr. Romeus showcased what he can do in both combine testing as well as during 1 on 1s. This young man clocked a 4.62 hand-timed 40-yard dash as well as a 4.47 hand times 5-10-5. His ability to change direction and get in/out of his breaks translate well over to his 1-on-1s. Here, he provided glimpses of being able to stay on the receiver's hip pocket and take solid breaks on the ball putting him in a position to make a play on the ball. He clocked a 4.66 hand-timed 40-yard dash as well as broad jumped 9'3" and ran a 7.44 hand-timed L drill. When you watch his 1-on-1s, you see his ability to close space quickly getting himself back into a position to make a play on the ball and showcased his ability to get hands-on when pressing. Technique wise he can work pressed on the line of scrimmage forcing outside release as well as in off coverage working inside shade. I'm very interested to see how Mr. Greenwell produces during his Junior Season Campaign and he has a high upside - he could very well see his recruiting stock increase as a result. <iframe src="https://www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/14727686/61a848197bd341034447ace1" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> &nbsp; <em><strong>Collin Kearney 25' 5'9 Maine South </strong></em> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-337061" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/05/050722-PrepRedZone-Prospect-Tour-Headshots-034.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /> Mr. Kearney is a young man that I haven't had a chance to scout as of yet, but I'm glad I got a chance to see him in action at our showcase. He does have room to hone his craft further and really grow into his position further. With that being said, he did showcase the ability to recover if he got broken off at the top of the route. In some instances, he was able to undercut the route coming away with pass breakups as well as interceptions. I'm very interested to see how he develops over the course of his high school career. &nbsp; <em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="321393" first="Aden" last="Chase"] 25' 5'8  Cathedral <a href="https://twitter.com/AdenChase1">Twitter</a></strong></em> https://twitter.com/PRZJordan/status/1523064490849452032?s=20&amp;t=-CHGQxc14Pu-_VLeaUCukA Mr. Chase took a trip out from IN to come to our IL showcase and one that caught my eye early on during testing. The sharp cuts he showcased during the L drill are what caught it and after speaking with his young man found out that he also runs a 55s Open 400. This young man does have room to hone his skillset further.
