Reason for the Rankings: 86-90

We’re continuing our “Reason for the Rankings” series with our prospects ranked 86 to 90. We’re starting to get into players at the Group of Five level or even with a few Power Five offers. We’re big fans of these guys, so here are the next five players on our list. <strong>90.</strong> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28522" first="Kadeem" last="Leonard"], 6’3 215, Fairmont, LB</strong> A big-bodied linebacker, Leonard is a man among boys on the field. Whether anchoring the defense at linebacker or playing some receiver on offense, Leonard is capable of making a game-changing play at any time. The UCF commit projects as an athletic, every-down linebacker at the next level. For now, we expect big things from him as a senior. <strong>89. [player_tooltip player_id="28521" first="Jake" last="Mann"], 5’10 210, Northwood, LS</strong> North Carolina is consistently one of the best states in the country at producing quality specialists and this year, nobody is better than Northwood longsnapper [player_tooltip player_id="28521" first="Jake" last="Mann"]. Mann has been the top-ranked longsnapper in the country for several years and will have the opportunity to snap at the Power Five level. He’s also a quality inside linebacker and accomplished lacrosse player, showing his versatility. Snapping is his future though and he’s good enough to eventually play on Sundays. <strong>88. [player_tooltip player_id="28520" first="Jeff" last="Yurk"], 6’2 195, Pinecrest, K</strong> Did we mention that the state produces quality specialists? Yurk is our third-ranked kicker/punter in the state and is top 15 in the country as a kicker and kickoff specialist. Yurk’s leg is special as he can hit consistently from outside of 50 yards. As is the case with a lot of kicking prospects, does not have an offer yet, but is in talks with several schools and will have the opportunity to play at the next level. <strong>87. [player_tooltip player_id="28519" first="Nathan" last="Linkous"], 6’5 295, Stuart W. Cramer, OL</strong> We highlighted Linkous in an article about <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2020/07/recruiting-check-in-breaking-down-charlottes-in-state-recruiting/">Charlotte’s in-state recruiting</a> earlier this month. The Charlotte commit has a powerful lower body that shows up in his film. He currently plays right tackle, but we expect him to shift inside at the college level, where his run blocking should be a tremendous asset to the 49ers. <strong>86. [player_tooltip player_id="28518" first="Javari" last="Rice-Wilson"], 6’ 235, Kings Mountain, Edge</strong> Rice-Wilson is an explosive athlete on the edge and has the versatility to play as a 4-3 defensive end or a 3-4 outside linebacker. Whether his hand is in the ground or he’s standing up, he’s got an impressive first step and wreaked havoc on opposing offenses a season ago. He plays both the run and pass well and will could end up being a steal if he ends up at one of the Group of Five schools already recruiting him.
