Today, we will take a look at some of the best underrated quarterbacks in the city of Austin and why they are on the rise. They have the arm strength, accuracy, and the IQ to play the position. Some of these players are going to play football in college, and some of them will need more development and training. When they suit up, their true playmaking skills are on display as well. With that being said, let’s analyze some future prospects that are on the rise.
Mason Cochran Mason Cochran 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Round Rock | 2024 State TX – 6’2 200Ibs/QB/ Round Rock High School
Analysis: Mason Cochran Mason Cochran 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Round Rock | 2024 State TX is a quarterback that has the potential to become a really good player. He racked up 8 touchdowns and 1 interception last season. Cochran was 46/82 in the passing game and threw for 770 yards with a 125.8 quarterback rating. Also, he rushed for 958 yards on 124 carries averaging 7.7 yards per carry, and scoring 13 touchdowns. This young man has a good arm and has decent accuracy. He can hurt you with his legs, and he does a good job checking for open receivers. Look for him to have a good season next year!
Ayden Ark- 6’1 200Ibs/QB/ Cedar Park High School
Analysis: Ayden Ark is a player that has the ability to become a dual threat quarterback that can turn into a premier player. Ark has good arm strength and has the ability to make tight throws when needed. His deep ball accuracy is tremendous as well. Ark does a good job staying strong in the pocket and delivering throws which helps his receivers get in rhythm as well. With more development and playing time, look for him to become a dangerous threat on offense in 2022.
Brayden Buchanan Brayden Buchanan 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Vandegrift | 2023 State TX – 6’2 205Ibs/QB/ Vandegrift High School
Analysis: Brayden Buchanan Brayden Buchanan 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Vandegrift | 2023 State TX has a cannon on him! He can deliver deep balls extremely accurately, and does a tremendous job staying in the pocket with great footwork. Buchanan has decent speed clocking a 4.8 40 yard dash, and has really good strength benching 265 pounds and squatting 405 pounds. He does an excellent job going through his progressions, and when he throws the ball, he leads his receivers to prevent them from putting themselves in a dangerous position. Look for him to have a superb 2022 fall football season.
Austin Novosad Austin Novosad 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Dripping Springs | 2023 State TX – 6’3 180Ibs/QB/ Drippings Springs High School
Analysis: Austin Novosad Austin Novosad 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Dripping Springs | 2023 State TX is a quarterback that is not to be taken lightly. He had a very good junior season last year. He threw for 3,399 yards and 40 touchdowns last season which is amazing. He only threw for 9 interceptions with a 64% completion percentage, and had a quarterback rating of 126.5! He was number 1 in the state for the 5A division in Texas for the most touchdowns thrown and was the District 12-5A unanimous MVP. He can kill you with his feet as well. Novosad has a powerful arm, and is extremely accurate in the passing game. Even though he only runs a 4.8 40 yard dash, he can still pull away from most defenders at any given moment. This young prospect has a bright future ahead of him with his play on the gridiron!
Conner Kenyon- 6’3 195Ibs/QB/ Bowie High School
Analysis: Conner Kenyon is another under the radar quarterback to watch for in the future. He led his team to an 10-3 record, and was 2nd team All-District in district 26-6A. Kenyon has good speed for a quarterback clocking a 4.7 40 yard dash as well. He shows his keen footwork in the pocket and is quick when he has to maneuver around the pocket! Conner Kenyon has a very good arm and will deliver accurate throws on the dime as well! He is a tremendous player, and I will not be surprised when he reels in some scholarship. Watch out for him for the upcoming 2022 football season!
